Itinerary

30 min

Most of the grounds that were used for the park were formerly the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo. They were donated to the city of Seville in 1893 by the Infanta Luisa Fernanda, Duchess of Montpensier, for use as a public park. In 1914 the architect Aníbal Gonzalez began construction for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, which was held partly within the park. The centre of it is Parque de María Luisa, a 'Moorish paradisical style' with a half mile of tiled fountains, pavilions, walls, ponds, benches, and exhedras. There are lush plantings of palms, orange trees, Mediterranean pines, and stylized flower beds with bowers hidden by vines. The park serves as a botanical garden. Many plant species, native or exotic, are represented, along with educational panels to inform the visitors to the park. Many birds make their home in the park, which is known for its large population of doves .

The Plaza de España ("Spain Square", in English) is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park), in Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architecture.

The Torre del Oro (English: "Tower of Gold") is a dodecagonal military watchtower in Seville. It was erected by the Almohad Caliphate in order to control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir river. Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials (a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed hay). The tower is divided into three levels, the first level, dodecagonal, was built in 1220 by order of the Almohad governor of Seville, Abù l-Ulà; As for the second level, of only 8 meters, also dodecagonal, was built by Peter of Castile in the fourteenth century, a hypothesis that has been confirmed by archaeological studies; The third and uppermost being circular in shape was added after the previous third level, Almohad, was damaged by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. Rebuilding of the third level was made by Brusselian Sebastian Van der Borcht in 1760.

The Puente de Isabel II, Puente de Triana or Triana Bridge, is a metal arch bridge in Seville, Spain, that connects the Triana neighbourhood with the centre of the city. It crosses the Canal de Alfonso XIII, one of the arms of the River Guadalquivir that isolate Triana as an almost-island. It was built during the reign of Isabella II of Spain and completed in 1852 as the first solid bridge in Seville, replacing an earlier floating bridge consisting of boats (a pontoon bridge). First built by the Moors in the 12th century, the pontoon bridge managed to exist for seven centuries due to later repairs.[1]

Pass by

The Royal Alcázars of Seville (Spanish: Reales Alcázares de Sevilla), historically known as al-Qasr al-Muriq (Arabic: القصر المُورِق‎, The Verdant Palace) and commonly known as the Alcázar of Seville (pronounced [alˈkaθaɾ]), is a royal palace in Seville, Spain, built for the Christian king Peter of Castile. It was built by Castilian Christians on the site of an Abbadid Muslim alcazar, or residential fortress destroyed after the Christian conquest of Seville. The palace is a preeminent example of Mudéjar architecture in the Iberian Peninsula but features Gothic, Renaissance and Romanesque design elements from previous stages of construction. The upper storeys of the Alcázar are still occupied by the royal family when they are in Seville, and are administered by the Patrimonio Nacional. It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, along with the adjoining Seville Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies.

The opera singing history guide

Our opera singing guide was magnificent! Can’t recommend this highly enough. Our guide (sorry can’t remember your name paolo(?) - Pavarotti’s better looking nephew with a voice to suit. A veritable history mine, we learnt more of the History of Seville that you’d get from several lectures. A must when you first arrive in Seville and then can choose where to explore further in coming days.

Easy 5 Stars

Easy 5 stars for Paolo on our E-bike tour of Seville. We arrived at the bike shop on time and left shortly after. Paolo started our tour with a brief history of Seville. He is a true historian and ambassador of his city. Paolo guided us to numerous landmarks while he shared insightful background at every site. We stopped for a coffee and talked about life. Our tour continued, covering much of Seville. Paolo kindly gave us little extra time so we could experience more of this beautiful city. We finished with a selfie with him. Highly recommend this bike shop and a guided tour with Paolo. Also, note, the beginning part of the ride the bike lane is crowded, lots of weaving and some stopping.

Juan was amazing!

We had an e-bike tour of Seville with Juan and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Juan was an excellent guide, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the city. He made the history and stories of Seville incredibly interesting and brought everything to life in a fun and engaging way. The tour was well paced, and he always made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable on the bikes. The e-bikes were great quality and made it easy to see so much of the city without feeling rushed. We learned loads, saw places we would never have found on our own, and had a brilliant time throughout. Thank you, Juan, for such a fantastic experience. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Seville!

Awesome tour with Alvaro,...

Awesome tour with Alvaro, who is a local and added bonus of him being a archeologist. He shared so many local tips along with the interesting history of beautiful Seville. We so enjoyed the tour and having his enthusiasm was the icing on the cake!

Good fun tour.

Very friendly guide (English language). We were lucky that no other had booked and we got a private tour. Seen a lot and a lot was told.

Family friendly experience in Seville

We had a great experience on our bike tour in Seville and absolutely loved our guide, Juan. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. He shared a lot of interesting information along the way and, most importantly, made us feel very safe—even with our 10-year-old riding with us. The bike lanes in Seville are very real and well respected. Even when it feels like you’re riding on the sidewalk, people move out of the way because it’s clearly marked, which made it much more comfortable for our family. Because it was Semana Santa, we weren’t able to ride through the downtown area, but that honestly worked out for the best. Juan took us through María Luisa Park, Plaza de España, and along the river, which were all beautiful and much less crowded—ideal with kids. One tip: before leaving the bike shop, make sure you have the right size bike, that everything is working properly, and that you feel comfortable with the height and fit. That part is a bit on you to check before heading out. Overall, this was a fantastic tour—fun, informative, and very family-friendly. Would definitely recommend, especially with Juan as your guide. ⸻

E bike tour serville - on cruise ship

Great trip round serville. Very knowledgeable guide. Saw all the sights . Sorry I ve forgot his name. Didn’t get shown how to use the electric bike and so I used for most of the tour as a normal bike. Then after going up a small hill got shown how to turn on . What a difference. Beautiful city. Thanks for the restaurant / bar tips . Would use again ….value for money and easy to find very central. Worked out very well from our cruise ship.

Operator response

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am very sorry about the instructions for the electric bike. Before the tour, we gather everyone and explain how the e-bike works, so I’m not sure what happened in your case. Please accept my apologies.

Our first bike tour in Europe.

Wonderful experience riding a bike through parts of the city. The bikes are somewhat large and the shorter people in our party struggled at the start; however, we flying along and taking in the sites in no time. Highly recommended. Our tour guide was wonderful and knowledgeable about the history and the culture of Seville.
