Self-Guided Wine Tours by Bike with Lorelle & Greg

Riding a bike through the Marlborough vineyards was a sort of bucket list item for me and Wine by Bike helped make it happen! Lorelle gave us a detailed map with lots of guidance and suggestions. Without her I wouldn’t have known about the flood bank which had great views of the river and the valley! I probably could have gotten any old bike and rode around for less money, but the support and guidance was priceless! Shout out to Hans Herzog, The Vine Cafe, and Nautilus!

Fab day, well organised, good bikes. Picked up from our house by Lorelle & given bikes for our sizes. Gave us a map with vineyards on. We did wine tasting & had an amazing lunch at Alan Scott’s! When we bought wine at each vineyard we told them our tour group & it was picked up for us & taken to the cycle tour centre for us to collect at the end of the day. Greg then gave us a lift back home. They are a lovely, fun welcoming couple. Thoroughly recommend.

Such a great experience! Collected from accommodation (highly recommend the walnut block cabins), taken to get a safety briefing and collect bikes. A few detailed instructions to keep us safe, and we were off. Lovely, easy ride to a selection of fantastic vineyard cellar doors and restaurants. Back to drop off bikes, and then taken by clean, spacious van back to our accommodation. Highly recommend!

Great way to see the wine region! Greg and Lorelle were lovely to chat with, extremely helpful, and their bicycles, maps, directions were spot on! 10/10

Tour was great. Greg was prompt with picking us up in the bus and the bikes were comfortable. We had rain in the morning but the first winery was very close - rain did not matter. Greg was thoughtful giving a plastic bag for covering the bike seat when we stopped. Bikes also had wine panniers for bottles purchased or they could be collected for us. Friendly, helpful and fun tour!

My husband and I had a great day on our bike tour with Lorelle and Greg. We were picked up promptly from our hotel in the morning and provided with helpful materials to review to help with deciding which cellar doors to visit. Our bikes were in good working order and functioned well throughout the entirety of our tour. They provided a very helpful map and were happy to answer questions we had to help plan our trip. I would recommend to any family and friends!

This is a fun activity in Marlborough for those interested in biking through vineyards around Renwick. You can reserve bike hire through the business online with options of meeting at the main office or with shuttle pick-up and drop-off at your area hotel. Bike hires start at 9am and 10am with drop-off at 4pm or 5pm. We found the pick-up and drop-off service quite helpful since we planned to do tastings at 5 different wineries and didn't want the hassle of dealing with our vehicle. Bikes are in very good condition and include helmets, and attached wine holders for 4 bottles. Good orientation is provided at the main office regarding the bike paths and roads situation around Renwick. Information about the various wineries including opening times, wine specialties and if they offer lunch and meals is also provided. Map of the area and cellar door locations is provided. Then off you go on our self-guided wine tasting experience. Note that they offer to retrieve any wine purchases for you and bring them back to the main office in the afternoon if helpful. You just have to call or message them by 3pm on the day. We found the cellar doors were helpful in this regard and would ring them up for you as well. On the day we visited a handful of wineries with cellar doors and quite enjoyed the scenic environs and various tastings, finding some very good wines in the process. Ended up purchasing 6 bottles in total. Found them boxed and waiting for us upon return to the Wine by Bike main office. We were returned to our accommodation shortly after. It was a great day out and overall very good experience sampling new Marlborough wines that we were unfamiliar with.. Would gladly do this wine bike tour again next time in the area.
