This building was originally built in 1814 and has changed hands more times than a sailors eaten a bowl of clam chowder. And that’s most likely due to the ghosts that haunt the joint.
This old building dates back to 1815 and in its heyday it once housed one of most popular brothels in the city.
Built in 1749, this is pre-revolutionary building is one of the oldest still standing in Portsmouth. Below its foundation once ran the underground tunnel system that secretly connected many of the buildings in Portsmouth.

Originally built in 1758 the old John Paul Jones house holds more ghosts than a than a Maine boat holds lobsters. Some say old John Paul Jones lingers in the room he once slept. Others have seen an angry spirit opening cabinets and slamming doors.
Over the past century world renowned acts have graced its halls including the magician Harry Houdini, gun swinging Buffalo Bill Cody and that clever fella Mark Twain. The shows were so good that the ghosts decided to stick around.
The Brewery is not only one of the best spots in Portsmouth to get a drink and a burger while in town. It’s also haunted by a flirty ghost of the night.

Was very easy and fun-liked the self guided experience especially being able to rewind a bit if something was missed.
A great way to explore downtown Portsmouth! The tour made it easy and fun. I especially enjoyed the sound effects that were added. My husband and I turned the volume up and shared my phone and it worked. If we had more than just the two of us, hearing the tour may have been a challenge. Having the tour on multiple phones would be helpful.
A fun tour! Make sure you have a fully charged phone. Best to do in the cooler morning hours or early evening.
I don’t think this was intended, but I found the ghost tour really campy, in a fun way! For the price, it is 100% worth it, it takes you on a nice loop around downtown Portsmouth.
Super spooky, fun, and surprisingly humorous! Will recommend to family and friends!
What a fun and informative walking tour of Providence Rhode Island. Lots of stories with humor intermingled. I liked that you can stop and start easily to enjoy shops and beverages along the way.
Great tour easily navigated and really fun . Most interesting discoveries that we never would have seen on our own . We would definately do another tour
Paying for the walking tour was easy but getting access to the tour was very frustrating and cumbersome. It wasn't very clear that you needed to download a second app to access the tour.
This was a different spin on a tour throughout the city because it was self guided. We were able to skip around and even stop for browsing in stores and eating, then resuming the tour. The bits about each location was interesting.
I enjoyed the self guided tour through Portsmouth, NH. I did find it a little bit confusing with the directions at times.
