There are a couple pro tips I would offer that will make your visit far better than mine was: 1) noise canceling ear buds. Maybe even with some gentle music. Without them, the Sea Life experience is just the sound of screaming babies 5 year old boys. 2) Go on an “off” time. I went on a Saturday afternoon which meant my experience was largely being pushed through like cattle to stand in line to view a tiny aquarium window and feel bad taking too long because there is an equally large crowd impatiently waiting behind you. Wear closed toed shoe…perhaps construction grade boots. Otherwise, your feet will hurt from being run over by a parade of 15,000 baby strollers. Here’s my major gripe: Sea Life brags about being the only KC aquarium with 180 degree viewing tanks. This is technically true. What they don’t mention is that about 95% of the aquarium is NOT 180 degree viewing tanks. That actually only about 10 linear feet of the entire experience is 180 degree viewing tanks. Aquariums are cool. This is an aquarium so by default it’s a 3 star level cool. This one is just maybe coming up a little short of expectation for the $100 we spent for three of us.
For the size of the aquarium, they have quite a nice collection of different species. We feel it was geared towards children. Everything was very clean and well cared for.
Beautiful place with amazing people working there. Be prepared if you’re bringing children who like to color! The Doodle station is so much fun. We had to bribe our 2,4 & 8 year old to leave it. They loved coloring a fish and sending it to the video aquarium. 10 out of 10 experience and I’m sure we’ll be coming back!
This was a simple, smaller aquarium, but well worth the price and visit. The displays were beautiful and had informative digital displays. I also added on the VR diving with sharks, which was pretty cool.
Aquarium was nice, but on the Viator app… they need to make sure they advertise that you have to have kids to go into Legoland. We had bought the 2 passes in 1 to Sea Life and Legoland.
Fun and interactive and the staff were great!!
I live in Kansas City but have never been to either Legoland or the Aquarium. I took a couple of my granddaughters. From the lego versions of local landmarks to the sea turtles, there was no end of wonders to behold. We all loved the experience and can't wait to go back.
Wonderful experience. I have not been back at the Crown Center since before the Aquarium was built. This compares favorably to the other similar operations around the US. Well run, well-informed and engaging staff and accurate, realistic displays of the sea life. Vital statistics and pertinent information throughout the facility and lots of interactive features for older and younger children.
To anyone in tune with Nature you get to learn more about sea creatures with new insights. To learn that turtles choke on polythene bag thinking it's a jelly fish is revealing and a subtle awareness subtle awateness to environmental safety. It's a nice experience
For those with children, there”s a fun digital coloring of fish that you send to a screen at the end
