Scenic Canyon Half-Day Float
Description
Feel free to leave the worries at home. This trip has just enough splash to remind you that you’re on a river but leaves out the intensity of the Shoshone rapids. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to kick-back and take in all that Glenwood Canyon has to offer. Hop out and do some swimming or even dip your toes in the hot springs that make their way into the Colorado River as you approach Glenwood Springs.

Your experience starts by meeting at the Defiance boathouse in Glenwood Springs. There, we will gear you up, talk about the trip, and introduce you to your river pro. Then we'll shuttle up Glenwood Canyon to Grizzly Creek where we will put-in on the Colorado River. You'll begin your scenic float right away as we navigate down the lower half of Glenwood Canyon. There will be occasional splashes and opportunities to jump in the water through lower Glenwood Canyon and into the community of Glenwood Springs. • Class I–II • Trip Length: 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours (dependent on river flow) • Departs daily @ 9:00 am; 1:00 pm; and 4:00 pm • Check-In is 45 minutes prior to departure • Requirements: Paddlers must weigh at least 30lbs.

I wish I could give this a 10 star, Gabriel was our guide and he was amazing and very knowledgeable about the area I cant say enough about the whole staff all were amazingly friendly and helpful. We so enjoyed our 2.5 hour trip. I hope some day to do it again
We got some interesting history lessons and fun facts along the way. Very scenic. Our tour guide, Taylor was awesome!
Jake was our guide and he was awesome! Plenty of local info and he answered every question we threw at him! Defiance was great, too! Everyone there was kind and helpful - would highly recommend!!
We did the scenic trip as my son is only 6 years old , but there some small rapids and he loved them, nothing too scary. My son is afraid of roller coaster and he was not afraid at all. He had a blast as did. Saw 2 bears and other cool wildlife. Beautiful scenery. Scenic tour, you do not need to paddle; guide does all the rowing. Guide was great. Action photography available; may vary by trip. Got about 50 photos for $60 to download.
We went for the scenic float, which was excellent. We even got to see a bear.
Our family of four (2x12 year olds) had an amazing time with Defiance Rafting. Greg was an excellent guide, full of interesting facts about the region. The experience was seamless and the ride itself very relaxing. Stopping at a natural hot spring for a dip was an unexpected treat! We appreciated the professionalism of the team and found this to be a great bang for the buck.
Our family had a great time! Griggs was a fantastic guide! We enjoyed looking at the scenery from within the canyon, swimming a bit, and getting to experience the hot springs. It felt adventurous, but not scary, which is what we were looking for.

Me and my friend who never did rafting before both enjoyed this experience. Everyone whom we encountered at Defiance rafting was very nice, professional and made the whole trip enjoyable. Our guide Eric was wonderful, he was very accommodating towards us, we never felt unsafe, but had not of fun. Eric was also knowledgeable about history of Glenwood springs and nature and animals native to this area. I would do it again in heartbeat. Thank you for making this trip memorable
