You will see a parade of majestic yachts that grace the tranquil waters. These opulent vessels, adorned with sleek lines and gleaming hulls, create a nautical symphony against the backdrop of the city skyline. From classic sailboats to modern mega-yachts, each vessel tells a story of maritime opulence and a passion for the open sea.
The Unconditional Surrender statue, also known as "The Kiss" or "Embracing Peace," is a striking 25-foot tall, 3-ton sculpture located in Tuna Harbor Park, adjacent to the USS Midway Museum in San Diego. It depicts a sailor kissing a nurse, inspired by the iconic 1945 V-J Day photograph that symbolizes the end of World War II. This popular waterfront attraction serves as a scenic photo spot and commemorates the joy and relief felt at the conclusion of the war. Originally a temporary installation from 2007 to 2012, its immense popularity led to the creation of a permanent replica, which was unveiled in 2013. The statue was crafted by artist J. Seward Johnson and is part of a series inspired by the historic moments captured in the V-J Day photographs. We love to encourage our guests to choreograph and we will grab some fun photos for your memories!
We will get a close up look at the USS Midway. The USS Midway is a historic aircraft carrier that served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1992. As the lead ship of its class, it played a crucial role in various military operations, including the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Now retired, the ship provides a fascinating glimpse into naval aviation history, showcasing an extensive collection of aircraft and artifacts. As a symbol of American naval strength, the USS Midway stands as a prominent attraction, inviting guests to experience a piece of military legacy firsthand.
The Broadway Pier is a modern, eco-friendly 1,490-foot venue located on the San Diego Embarcadero, serving as a cruise ship terminal, ferry terminal to Coronado, and a public recreational space. It offers scenic bay views, public art installations like the "Tidal Radiance" light art, and the Tin Fish restaurant, along with seating areas and restrooms. Located at the west end of Broadway near the USS Midway Museum, the pier's history dates back to the 1910s, with a remodel in 2010 enhancing its sustainable, energy-efficient features while maintaining a vibrant atmosphere for enjoying the waterfront.
The tour includes your round trip ferry ride to Coronado Island. We will depart on the short 15 minute ferry ride to arrive in one, if not the most picturesque settings in Coronado. Coronado Ferry Landing.
Local fishermen dock right up and serve up the fresh caught fish they just got! So fantastic!
During the tour you will see the graceful curves of the Coronado Bridge elegantly span the shimmering waters, connecting San Diego to the picturesque Coronado Island. A masterpiece of engineering and design, this iconic bridge offers a stunning blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty. Whether bathed in the warm hues of sunset or standing tall against a clear blue sky, the Coronado Bridge is a captivating symbol of coastal elegance and connectivity.
We will pass by The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park which is a stunning outdoor venue nestled along the picturesque Embarcadero waterfront in San Diego. This architectural gem boasts a sprawling 13,000-square-foot stage, designed to provide breathtaking 360-degree views of the scenic surroundings. The stage, equipped with advanced technology, creates an immersive experience that enhances the magic of live performances. Set within a lush, park-like environment, the venue exudes a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where guests can unwind amidst the beauty of nature. It not only serves as a hub of vibrant entertainment but also as a serene oasis where the artistry of live music harmonizes with the captivating beauty of its coastal setting.
The Embarcadero Marina Parks, comprising North and South, are beautiful, 13-acre green spaces that extend into San Diego Bay, offering stunning panoramic water views and lush lawns. The parks feature paved walking paths, a picturesque gazebo, and basketball courts, making them ideal for picnics, events, and sunset watching. Located near Seaport Village and the Convention Center, the parks are distinct peninsulas surrounded by concrete promenades. Embarcadero Marina Park North is a serene spot with views of the city skyline and bay, while Embarcadero Marina Park South includes a T-shaped fishing pier, basketball courts, and ample parking. Both parks provide sweeping views of the San Diego Bay, downtown skyline, and Coronado Bridge, creating a vibrant atmosphere that hosts outdoor concerts, festivals, and recreational activities.
We pass right by our fabulous San Diego convention center. Home of the world famous San Diego Comic Con and so many more incredible conventions!

Nestled along the picturesque San Diego Bay, it offers a delightful blend of over 50 specialty shops, boutiques, and eateries. Visitors can explore the scenic pathways, enjoy views of the bay, and discover unique items from local artisans. The guide was friendly, outgoing, took great care of the group. Also knowledgeable about San Diego, and now so are we!
Despite having a very new but passionate local guide, this food tour was a disappointment. For over $100 per person, the food selections were unoriginal, and it felt like nothing special was planned—not even reservations were made for our group. More importantly, the tour description failed to mention a 1-mile walk, which was a physical strain on my 80-year-old mother who has mobility issues. It is definitely not worth the high price tag without significant improvements to the food quality, hospitality, and accessibility transparency.
In three years, this is the first review we’ve received that wasn’t positive, and I’ll be honest — it landed hard, because we pour ourselves into every detail of this experience. We want to respond with care. Every stop we choose is on the waterfront and highly regarded — The Fish Market is a Gold Medallion winner for Best Casual Seafood, and Spiro’s has been repeatedly voted among San Diego’s best Mediterranean. This is a walking food tour along a flat, paved waterfront path, with the distance broken up by four sit-down stops to eat and rest, and we’re always glad to slow the pace for any guest who’d like us to. I’m sorry this didn’t meet the standard our guests have come to expect, we absolutely care tremendously about accommodations, that’s why we always ask in advance about any food allergies, dietary restrictions or mobility issues and make all the necessary adjustments. Again, we are just so saddened to read this.

If you're looking for a fun way to experience San Diego beyond the typical tourist stops, I highly recommend this food tour! We loved that it combined a beautiful waterfront walking tour with amazing local food and a ferry ride over to Coronado. It felt like getting several experiences wrapped into one. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour feel personal and relaxed. Along the way we enjoyed delicious tastings from several fantastic local eateries, learned interesting history about the waterfront, stopped for photos at iconic landmarks like the Unconditional Surrender statue, admired the USS Midway and the beautiful yachts in the harbor, rode the historic Coronado carousel, and took in incredible views of the Coronado Bridge and San Diego skyline. Everything was well organized, the food portions were generous, and the small-group setting made it easy to ask questions and enjoy the experience at a comfortable pace. I also love supporting woman-owned small businesses, and this tour is a wonderful example of the passion and care that local business owners bring to what they do. Whether you're visiting San Diego for the first time or you're a local looking for a fun day out, this tour is absolutely worth it. I would happily recommend it to friends and family!
Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful review! We are so glad the ferry ride to Coronado and the carousel made the tour feel like several experiences in one — that’s exactly what we set out to create when we designed it. It means the world to hear that your guide made everything feel personal and relaxed. Our small-group format is intentional; we want people to be able to ask questions, take their time, and really connect with the waterfront and the local spots we partner with. And thank you for the kind words about supporting woman-owned small businesses. Building MM Tours has been a labor of love, and reviews like yours are what keep us going. We’d love to have you back — and please send your friends and family our
