Journey to the historical Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnel Fortification on board the unique 64-seat Captain Hussey trolley train. This tour begins with a relaxing train ride passing some iconic and historical landmarks on the island. Then enjoy a 45 minute guided tour of the Guns and Tunnels - learn about the military history of Rottnest and the part it played during WW11. Please note the Guns and Tunnels tour is a physically demanding 45-minute tour with approximately 700 metres walking and 240+ uneven steps (equivalent to a 8-storey climb). There are no rest stops and no backtracking once inside. No carrying of children is permitted except for small infants in baby carriers (which allow the accompanying adult to have both hands free for the railings in the tunnels). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The tour takes place in enclosed tunnels - please watch for low ceilings, uneven surfaces and other trip hazards - and follow guide instructions at all times.

The tour was excelent, the guide was very knowledgable about the guns and the location. The train ride to the guns was also very enjoyable.
Highly recommend . Scenic train Ride and excellent tour guide
We thoroughly enjoyed the historic train ride up to Oliver Hill, where we were met by volunteer guides who walked us through the historic tunnels and showed us the gun there. It was fascinating and the guides were very very knowledgeable.
We really enjoyed this as a family of 2 adults and 3 children (aged 10,9,8 years old) Train was fun and tunnel guide (Rodger) was very knowledgeable (and patient with the 101 questions from my kids) Something a bit different to riding your bike or getting the bus!
Very interesting tour by volunteer. Commentary through microphone on the little train would have been good.
Was really good and interesting. I thought I’d be claustrophobic in the tunnels, but I was fine. Quite a few stairs, but average fitness can cope.
This was one of the best tours that we have been on all the information was just awesome these guys are so passionate about there information it was a great tour
The train ride was great the volunteers are just amazing and Oliver Hill outstanding.
Family loved the train ride to Olive Hill. Good way to see the salt lake, airport and coast line. The view from the top of Olive Hill is beautiful. The tour with Wayne was really interesting and kept our 10 year old and 6 year old engaged. Thank you to the volunteer tour guides! I would recommend the tour for adults and older children. The train ride is 20 mins each way and there is an option to just do the train ride. The tour was approximately half an hour.
