Itinerary
We’ll begin right at the famous Copacabana Beach with a chilled coconut water — the perfect way to refresh yourself as you take in the golden sands and lively beachfront atmosphere.
From there, we’ll admire the world-famous Copacabana Palace, a symbol of Rio’s golden age and a cultural landmark that has hosted royalty, celebrities, and musicians alike.
Next, we’ll step into the very ground where Bossa Nova was born, exploring the neighborhood’s bohemian past and musical legacy.
We’ll then visit the Statue of Princess Isabel, a tribute to the Brazilian princess who signed the “Golden Law” abolishing slavery in 1888 — a historic landmark that connects Rio’s beauty to Brazil’s complex past.
To wrap up, we’ll stroll along Leme Beach, the quieter, more local stretch of sand at the end of Copacabana, where the rhythm slows and you can take in the view of the Forte do Leme and the surrounding hills.

Such tours are as good as a guide, and we had a lot of fun walking through Copacabana with Pedro. The food was very interesting and tasty, we definitely got the feeling of locals

What a great tour! The food serving sizes were very good too. It was also personal because it was a small group. Thanks Pedro!
We’re glad the day turned out to be such a good fit for you! Thank you for spending part of your visit with Secret Food Tours. It was a pleasure having you along.
This was one of the best food tours we've ever done, and we've done a few! We really enjoyed the small group (there were four of us with the guide), and the places we visited felt very local. And although this was not our first trip to Brazil, the majority of the foods we tried were new to us. We especially enjoyed visiting a spot that was featured in Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" show. Our guide Pedro was excellent. He had so many stories associated with the city, the food, and the people. For example, he said that Brazilians refer a dip in the ocean as "breading" because when you come out, the sand sticks to you, (as when you are breading a piece of food). He gave us interesting information about local ingredients like cassava flour. He was so personable and charming, and really kept the conversation lively. Pedro provided great communication and was very patient with us when we were lost trying to find the meeting spot. A little tip for other travelers - the meeting spot is a kiosk on the beach. Uber drivers are not allowed to drop passengers off at Copacabana beach, and most don't speak English, so when we were dropped off, it was on the other side of the street and the driver pointed vaguely to a building. Anyway, look for a kiosk ON THE BEACH and you should find it easily.
There’s a lot to take in when you’re exploring somewhere new. We’re glad you gave us a few hours to introduce you to some of the local side of the city through Secret Food Tours. We hope you found the day worthwhile!
We met Francesca from Secret Food Tours in Rio de Janeiro for a deep dive into the city’s authentic cuisine. Originally from Italy, Francesca has a wonderful appreciation for all things food, which made her the perfect guide. She organized an excellent day filled with stops at local pubs, street vendors, restaurants, and even an open-air market. Along the way, she shared fascinating insights into the food, culture, and history of Rio. It felt like a food tour and city tour combined! We especially appreciated Francesca’s enthusiasm and passion for gastronomy. I highly recommend both Francesca and Secret Food Tours if you’re visiting Rio. One important tip: skip breakfast! The food is plentiful, and the portions are very generous. Thank you, Francesca, for a wonderful day and a truly memorable experience!
