Itinerary
Rhodes Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, but it’s not your classic heritage spot and it’s certainly unlike the main town of any other Greek island. The streets are so well-preserved that you half expect a knight on horseback to ride past at any time. And that’s before you turn into the Ottoman or Jewish districts, which have a very different feel to them. And yet Rhodes town also retains a distinctive Greek island vibe. There are many shops and restaurants within the walls, particularly around central Hippokratous Square, but there are also quaint and quiet alleyways, adding to the charm of a town that is almost car-free.
No tour in Rhodes is complete without visiting Lindos. Not just because of the 3rd century BC acropolis found there, or even because of the sugar-cubed houses and labyrinth of alleyways of the town loved by everyone who passes through. It’s because you follow exactly the same path and see almost the same views as the ancients who built the acropolis and the knights that used it as a place of worship and defence. That incredible vista of the Mediterranean Sea and St Paul’s Bay below … it’s exactly the same view that would have inspired them back in the day. The archaeological site; cosy streets with many shops, cafes, restaurants, and of course breath-taking views that you can pick out from the temple will reward you for your visit
The term ‘ceramic’ comes from the Greek word meaning ‘pottery’. Do you know that pottery has magic in it? Why? Because it comes from nature as a meeting of 3 elements: earth, water & fire. Earth and water are the raw materials, fire gives the object color and durability while human hearts and hands give them shape. Clay is the symbol of creativity, many myths describe it to be the material out of which the first men, plants, and animals come to be. The piece of clay will turn into a piece of art right in front of your eyes. Then the owner of this cosy workshop will invite you to taste their oil, honey, and some other products of their family.
Enjoy some free time in the Medieval City of Rhodes to stroll along cobblestone streets, admire the well-preserved medieval architecture, browse local shops, or enjoy a leisurely coffee surrounded by history.

This was a great option for us as a couple because we wanted to see the main highlights but still have some time to wander around independently. The Old Town was probably our favorite part, with its narrow streets and historic buildings, while Lindos gave us a completely different atmosphere. The guide was knowledgeable without talking nonstop, which we appreciated. Transportation was clean and comfortable, and pickup and drop-off were handled smoothly. We never felt stressed about getting back to the ship, and that made the whole day much more relaxing.
Traveling with friends, we wanted to see as much of Rhodes as possible without spending the whole day figuring out transportation ourselves. The day worked out really well. We had time to explore the Old Town, take photos, grab something to eat, and then continue toward Lindos. The vehicle was comfortable and the driving felt safe throughout the trip. Our guide was easygoing and helpful, giving us interesting information but also letting us enjoy our own free time. The return to the ship was well timed, which was probably the thing we cared about most.
We were traveling as a family with different ages, so finding something that everyone could enjoy was important. This worked surprisingly well. The transportation was comfortable, the driver was careful, and the guide was friendly with everyone in our group. We enjoyed walking through the Old Town and then seeing Lindos, which gave us two very different sides of Rhodes. Having free time was a big plus because we could stop for photos, look around the shops, and take a short break when needed. The organization was good and we made it back to the ship comfortably on schedule.
As a solo traveler arriving by cruise ship, I wanted something organized because I didn't want to waste time dealing with local transportation. Pickup was easy and the driver was professional. I enjoyed having guided portions of the day as well as free time to explore the Old Town and Lindos on my own. The guide gave me some useful historical background and also pointed out a few things I might otherwise have walked past. The air-conditioned vehicle was especially welcome during the warmer parts of the day. Everything stayed on schedule, so I returned with plenty of confidence about making the ship on time.
Joanna was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable. It was unfortunately way too hot in Lindos to climb the 300 steps to the Acropolis of Lindos. We were warned about the steps, but not the heat before we purchased our tickets (additional cost) the evening prior to the excursion.. Overall we enjoyed our shore excursion in Rhodes and would recommend it to others.
Nice trip, but a long way to go to Lindos in a bus where the air con was SO poor - 34 degrees inside made it very uncomfortable Struggled to understand the guide who spoke very quickly with not good English
We regret to hear that you did not feel comfortable on our latest-model German Setra bus. Could you please clarify whether your reference to 34 degrees was in Celsius or Fahrenheit? If you meant Celsius, that temperature would have had the entire group melting; if you meant Fahrenheit, everyone would have been freezing! 😊 As yours was the only temperature-related complaint received from the entire group, we strongly recommend discussing your unusual temperature concern with your doctor, as the health of our customers is our priority. You were accompanied by one of the top-rated guides in Rhodes, who holds two university degrees and is fully licensed to guide in English. Please note that many European guides speak fluent international English with an accent rather than American English. When traveling abroad, some variation in pronunciation and accent is naturally part of the experience. If you have difficulty understanding different accents, we highly recommend traveling outside your home country more often. Safe and happy travels!
The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, combining well-known landmarks with lesser-known details that made the tour more meaningful. The guide was approachable and made everyone feel included throughout the trip.
Enjoyed the tour. The guide was knowledgeable. Lindos was beautiful but very crowded. The stop for the pottery demonstration as basic and there was no discussion about the different types of honey. It was all self serve. The ancient city tour was very interesting but it is so large difficult to cover everything.
We were looking for a relaxed tour that covered both historical sites and local culture, and this was exactly that. The guide shared interesting details without making it feel like a lecture. We left with a much better understanding of Rhodes.
This tour gave us a nice balance of sightseeing and local stories. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. It never felt crowded, and we had enough time to enjoy each location at our own pace.
