Had a really good experience on this private slum tour with Dheeraj! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained the history and details very clearly. I was initially worried about spending time in India, unsure of how I would handle the cultural shock, so I decided to confront it head on and becoming more informed. This tour was perfect. Our guide was a delight as she shared the many accomplishments of the slum area in which she lived. Recycling plastics seemed to take centre stage, they also have a strong leather industry, and many street vendors. What was remarkable was that we experienced zero begging in the slums, unlike everywhere else we went in Mumbai. The people work hard, get paid little, but there is a very strong sense of community, coupled with hope. It’s amazing to see the strength, determination and resilience of these people!
This was the most fabulous trip, our guide was amazing, the people who live and work here are incredible, they smile and seem happy they are ingenious how they recycle everything, this tour is a must you will be humbled.
