If you hate waiting and walking behind big groups or just have a short time to explore Medellín, this is the perfect tour for you, we will cut to the chase and show you the most important spots without wasting time on unnecessary details. This tour takes you to one of the most captivating places of Colombia, a place full of contrasts, life, death, diversity, unity, violent history and vibrant culture: COMUNA 13, once known as one of the most dangerous places on earth, has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to the talent and resilience of its people, we'll immerse ourselves in its complex history going through hidden alleys, passageways and different neighborhoods, so we can deeply understand how all of this happened, and more amazing, how did they manage to change? We'll learn and experience how the social investments, the Hip Hop culture and art have played a role in this community's resurgence and metamorphosis.
1) After being picked up from your place in comfortable and private transportation, we'll begin our tour heading to the northwest of Medellín, towards our CABLECAR SYSTEM in Comuna 13, an emblem of progress and innovation of the city. This transportation played a significant role in positioning Medellín as the world's most innovative city, it is worth noting that Medellín has the only Metro system in Colombia, recognized as one of the most efficient and clean in all of Latin America! We will take a captivating round trip on the cable car, ascending the mountains and soaring above the vibrant "barrios". This unique perspective offers a completely different scenery, allowing us to absorb the diverse faces of the city. The views are simply breathtaking.
2) On our following point we'll get to experience one of the city's innovated "ELECTRIC ESCALATORS". One of the primary goals of these projects was to improve accessibility for residents living in the city's marginalized communities, they help connect these areas to the main public transportation network, making it easier for residents to access jobs, education, and healthcare facilities. We'll have a short and leisurely walk around the iconic ROAD-DUCT that interconnects all the neighborhoods on the superior side, which were in constant conflict with each other just a few years ago, and it has become a symbol of Comuna 13's remarkable metamorphosis, from a place controlled by violence and crime to a thriving and inspiring community.
3) We'll start our journey exploring the renowned GRAFFITI ROUTE in the heart of COMUNA 13! We'll have a walk through its lively streets, charming alleys, and hidden passageways, immersing ourselves in a vibrant world of colors, cultural richness, and fascinating history. We'll explore the incredible street art spread out in every corner, each mural telling a unique story that reflects the transformation, love, resilience, unity and cultural divsersity of these local communities. It's an inspiring transformation, knowing that these neighborhoods became the most violent in the world, and today they are a symbol of change, even the worst can change with a few opportunities and good intentions.

My reservation for a 7-day safari cost $USD 5,100, and after I paid for my vacation, Private Half-Day Tour to Comuna 13 in Medellín was unreachable. My emails were unanswered, and I couldn't get through to them on the phone. They sent me an email after my aircraft departed, claiming that they could not run my trip and that I would receive a refund, less than 48 hours before I was supposed to be picked up at my hotel in The Andes Adventure Travels. They haven't returned my money and haven't been approachable since I sent them the notice. They are either no longer in operation or continue to defraud gullible customers by "selling" them trips and taking their money. I must now pursue legal action.
Dear Reviewer, We are very concerned to read your review because it does not appear to correspond to our company or to any service we have ever offered. For the sake of future travelers, we would like to clarify a few important facts: The Andes Adventure Travels does not offer 7-day tours or vacation packages. All of our experiences are private half-day or full-day tours in and around Medellín, Colombia. We do not offer safari tours. Our company operates exclusively in Medellín and nearby destinations, where safari experiences simply do not exist. None of our tours cost anywhere near USD 5,100. In fact, our experiences are generally well below USD 300 per person. Your review mentions a "7-day safari" while also referring to our "Private Half-Day Tour to Comuna 13," which are two completely different types of experiences. It also refers to "The Andes Adventure Travels" as if it were a hotel, when it is actually the name of our tour company. These inconsistencies make us believe this review may have been posted on the wrong business profile. Additionally, we have no record of any reservation matching the description in your review. If you genuinely booked with us, we kindly invite you to provide your reservation number, the confirmation from Viator or Tripadvisor (or the platform where you booked), and the emails you mention. We will gladly investigate the matter immediately. For many years we have proudly served thousands of travelers with excellent reviews, and we have always honored our bookings, maintained open communication with our guests, and remained fully operational. Accusations suggesting that we have disappeared or defrauded customers are simply not supported by any evidence. If this review was posted by mistake or intended for another company, we respectfully ask that it be corrected or removed to avoid misleading future travelers. Thank you.
Daniel was an outstanding guide! Our Comuna 13 tour with him on May 1, 2026 was colorful, engaging, educational, and fun! The history (especially the recent history) of this Medellín neighborhood is very interesting, and a helluva story. Daniel did a terrific job of explaining everything in a captivating and vibrant way. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting “The City of Eternal Spring".
We only had a couple of days in Medellin and weren't sure what we should see. We wanted to learn of the history of the city, and also feel safe. We lucked out choosing this company to tour Communa 13. Daniel, our guide, picked us up at our hotel in El Poblado, and dropped us home again. On the way to Communa 13, he told us of the history of Medellin and how and why people moved there. We did a drive by of Pablo Escobar's house first, then on to Communa 13. We watched an amazing breakdance show by the residents, then walked up to the top of the barrio. (there are some escalators available). We were surrounded on both sides by the incredible graffiti on the walls showcasing the history, the bullet holes still clearly visible, and Daniel explained it all. There are brightly coloured little shops, sculptures, and the area is full of life. Then we did the cable car ride up the mountain from the other side to view Communa 13. We learned so much in one half day tour, which we could never have done by ourselves. I thoroughly recommend this company, it exceeded our expectations in all ways.
Tour of Comuna 13 was truly amazing. Highlight of our trip to Medellin. Daniel shares fascinating history and really makes the people involved come alive. We learned so much that is difficult to find in books or on line. Thank you!
Super recommended! The guide Daniel super friendly and made the experience really enjoyable!
Alex is a great guide! We loved our tour of Communa 13! From pick up to drop off everything was so easy and interesting and educational- would definitely recommend! :)
Very nice activity! Our guide Alexander was really nice, patient and knowledgeable about Medellín! We recommend it!
Laura was great and allowed plenty of time for pictures and questions. She explained the history well, and we also enjoyed the cable car and fruit market.
Our tour with Juan Carlos was a wonderful addition to our trip, from pick up to drop off Juan Carlos took care of all of our needs and told us all about the incredible history of Comuna 13! I would absoutlely recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience communa 13 in a real way and seeing the large area that C13 covers. Taste the delicious treats, see the arts and culture, the real community and the aerial view from the cable car
