Meet your friendly English-speaking guide at your hotel lobby and you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! 3 hours inside the Panda Center, tour through the baby and adult panda areas. On a guided tour, visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs born in summer, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the sub-adult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas in all their full-grown glory. Take pictures of this endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. Finally, visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals and try to spot the sleeping red pandas stretched out on branches in the red panda garden.

Pickup Locations & Times
Departure point: Free picking up service from your city hotel or residence in Chengdu (all hotels within 3rd Ring Road), if you stay outside the 3rd Ring Road, then need to be picked up at the main gate of Wuhouci, or please contact us in advance to arrange to be picked up from your hotel or airport and pay extra cost to driver. Return point: Returns to original departure point or can be drop-off at the city center.

We had a wonderful experience visiting the panda reserve. Our guide, Perry, was absolutely fantastic. He had an incredible amount of knowledge about pandas and shared many interesting facts and stories throughout the tour. His English was excellent, and he explained everything clearly and in a very engaging way. Perry was also very friendly, professional, and passionate about his work, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We learned a lot and had a truly memorable time. It’s a great experience to visit the Panda Center. Kids and adults love it. We were lucky to have Cindy as our guide. She knows the best places and how to avoid the crowds. And she was exceptionally kind with us and the kids.

It was wonderful being at the Panda Base. While my preconceived notions of the experience to be much closer in proximity to the pandas as seen in the marketing photo, the experience itself was still well worth it. While the crowd sizes were large and it turned out the inside breeding center was closed that day, Perry did a wonderful job of making sure we got the best shots and the easier navigation route to beat some of the masses. He was extremely attentive, making sure we had the best time possible.
My half day trip to see the pandas was perfect. Perry arrived exactly on time at 07:30 and we beat the crowds on an unusually hot day. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable about the giant pandas and helped me get to the best vantage points. The Red Pandas and Golden Monkeys were right out front in their enclosures. The half day was plenty of time to see young pandas creating mischief without feeling rushed. Great tour and Perry is a great guide.

We had a great day, even in the heat! Our guide, Perry, was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. He made sure everything went smoothly starting with pickup from our hotel. It was a very hot day, and throughout the tour he made sure we had water and he even brought a small fan to cool us down. He was great about making sure we saw the pandas and had the best views. Cuteness overload! I definitely recommend this tour!
Our guide Cindy was great. Pickup on time. The key seems to be to go early and hope for cooler weather- we were fortunate on both and saw many active pandas. Crowds swell when there is a sighting but just be patient.
I highly recommend choosing the volunteer experience and having Perry as your guide! From the moment I was picked up from my accommodation, Perry was attentive and informative. My journey there was relaxing and whilst at the Wolong Giant Panda Garden, Perry informed me about the different pandas that were there and some interesting facts. I was very appreciative of him translating parts of the session so I could still feel included and I appreciated all the photography moments and being guided to the best spots to witness the pandas at play (or rest!). The volunteer experience allowed me to get even closer to one of their pandas as well as learning more about them and how they are supported by this amazing organisation. It was honestly a moment I’ll treasure forever. Thank you so much Perry!
