Erica was a fantastic tour guide! So informative and a pleasure to spend the day with. We went to the Rock and Guatape first so we beat a lot of the tour buses. At 65 years old, I was hesitant to take the stairs all the way to the top, but with Erika’s reassurance that I could do it, I did and I’m so glad I did as the views were gorgeous and it was really a sense of accomplishment l. In Guatape, she took me around to some quieter areas that were not filled with tourists and took me to some authentic art galleries so I could purchase a true Colombian artists work. Communa 13 was very crowded but nonetheless interesting to learn the history and meaning behind some of the street art. Best of all, I really was hoping that we could see everything in less than the 10 1/2 hour timeframe and she structured the day so this could be accomplished while still seeing everything I felt necessary. All while driving in the car during the recent earthquake and not feeling a thing. In fact we didn’t even know anything had happened until the tunnel we needed to go through was closed and we didn’t know why. It was a little extra excitement to the day! Highly recommend this tour and Erika!

Comuna 13 was the most dangerous district in Medellin only 18 years ago. And is also the place where the first outdoor non-touristy electrical escalators in the world were installed. They were inaugurated in December of 2011 with a cost of 3,5 million dollars and was built to save more than 350 stairs in a very steep hill. Besides the escalators, Comuna 13 is also one of the biggest street art district in Latin America. Half of the neighborhood displays meaningful graffitis and you get the chance to learn all their meanings in this incredible Graffiti Tour with us. Throughout the walk in Comuna 13 we invite you to try the traditional snacks from Colombia, if you are a foodie you will love the food. Empanadas, Butifarras, Carimañolas, Aborrajado and more, all of them delicious and authentic. In our walk we visit the view point, the new pathway full of graffiti and the slide built to honor a tragedy occurred in Comuna 13. There is a lot of history to be heard at this tour.
The drive from the fruits to the rock is around 35 minutes but is full of beautiful sceneries of kale plantations, onion, sugar cane, coffee, tomatoes and hundreds of mountains silhouettes. As we drive we start telling you all the history of the rock: components, owners, when was it climbed and more interesting facts. Once we get there you get the chance to climb up it. It’s 749 steps and 50 minutes approximately to go up and down. Once you reach the top, you can stay up there for as long as you wish as you witness one of the most beautiful views you have ever seen. This is not only our opinion but that of hundreds of tourists we have taken there. At the top there are several shops where you can buy water, beer and many other items and sit down to appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands and country houses. Whenever you feel ready to start going down we'll be ready waiting for you to continue our adventure to one of the most colorful towns in the country: Guatape town.
The drive to Guatape from the rock is only 10 to 15 minutes. At this town we take a fully narrated walking tour through the town's landmarks such as the church, main square, remembrance street, Zocalos Square and more. Once the walking tour has concluded we take you to the best restaurant in town to have a traditional delicious lunch (not included in the tour) where you have more than 20 different options to try the local cuisine accompanied of a cold sangria or a craft beer. After we finish our lunch and visit in this beautiful Guatape town we head back in our comfortable private car. This is a tour full of good memories, lot of new learning and insights on the history, the urban conflict and the culture of this region that will leave you very satisfied.

I use this company on my last day in Metin with some of my friends to tour Guatape and climb the Peñol rock and also go to communal 13. Our tour guides name was Erika. She was the best part of this whole experience truly. She told us all these stories and gave us so much information on the history of everything we were seeing and the locations we were visiting. She was so incredibly knowledgeable and that is what made the whole experience so worthwhile truly. I originally considered sightseeing all the main attractions myself with my friends but I am SO thankful I did not go that route and instead booked this tour with this company and met Erika. I truly would have missed out exponentially if I did not get to learn about all the things Erika knew to tell us. The rock was just over 700 stairs and it was a challenge but worth the view from the top! Another great thing about Erika and this company is how they allowed us to take our time but also made sure to keep us on track. Another major plus point was how well organized the tour was because I've definitely had my share of tours that were not at all organized and that can be quite frustrating. I recommend this experience to everyone who goes to Medellin, more if possible, if you do not go many days. Daniel, our guide, made sure that on a rainy day we made the most of the experience, taking us to Guatape first while it rained in Medellin and saving us a lot of queues and then taking us to Commune 13 where it no longer rained. It would be iterative to comment on the activities in Ushuaia. But there's one Tip that very few know. Go to the Tourist Office and ask for the Diploma for having visited the southernmost city in the world. It's free and they offer you more than one. You can also add large postage stamps, such as those listed at the bottom. It's very nice. On my return I showed them all.
