We spent two consecutive days with Vasco in July 2026, my children and I, and those two days are the best memory we took home from São Miguel. Vasco knows his island by heart. Gorreana, the north coast, Furnas, Terra Nostra, Sete Cidades: every stop was thought through, well paced, never rushed. The schedule was flawless, with no racing against the clock and no dead time either. His knowledge is impressive and he answered every single question I had, from volcanism to everyday Azorean life, by way of the history of tea and pineapple growing on the island. What I appreciated most: he genuinely listens to what you want to see, while also being full of ideas of his own. When I put forward a slightly overloaded itinerary, he knew how to arbitrate, suggest the right stops and steer us away from the tourist traps, restaurants included. Every one of his recommendations was excellent. And this matters when you travel with your children: I felt safe from start to finish. Calm, respectful driving, comfortable vehicle, perfect punctuality. Great advice and great company. If you are looking for someone who will show you São Miguel as something more than a checklist of viewpoints, he is your man. Obrigada Vasco!
Great experience. Vasco was an excellent guide for the day and gave us some good tips for the rest of the week. The two of us were picked up with our luggage at the airport in the morning, spent 7 hours around Sao Miguel, and then dropped off at hotel late in the afternoon for check-in. Perfect timing and a great day. Had to check the weather at pick-up to finalize the itinerary.
Reached out to Vasco a few months ago with a list of places to visit. He was great with communication and set up a private 1.5 day tour with all details explained. It was an amazing experience! He picked up our family & dropped at our apartment both days. He knew exactly where to go, taking the stress of driving & knowing where to go as well as where to park. He planned & reserved a restaurant to have cozido (food cooked with volcanic heat). He was very knowledgeable and super friendly! Would definitely recommend Vasco!
This a must see tour when visiting the Azores. Vasco was a delight to spend the day with. He was very friendly and informative of the island history. The sites we visited were stunning.
We are pick up with a van that have 4 wheels drive meaning we can go off road and should be fine. Delfim is our drive/tour guide and he took us to the mountain to places that tour buses cannot go to. We saw so much more than any other would have. We love this tour and highly recommended.
This was a wonderful excursion. Vasco met us as soon as we got off the ship and escorted us to his Mercedes 7 passenger van. We discussed the places we wanted to go, and he put the plan in place to see not only our choices, but so many other beautiful places. Vasco completely personalized the day for the six of us. It was a leisurely day; we took as much time as we wanted at each site. We chose to have a quick lunch so Vasco brought us to a quiet, local restaurant. This was because we wanted to see as much as possible within our time frame. Vasco was informative, but made us feel like family with lots of laughter. He is a very safe driver and we arrived back at the port well before our “all aboard “ time. In fact we had some time to explore the area around the port if we wanted to. I highly recommend this tour, it’s details are spot on and Vasco was the best……. Ask for him!!
This tour definitely exceeded all of our expectations. My husband and I only had two days on the island. Knowing nothing about the Azores we opted for a private all day tour.
