O Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia (MAAT) é um museu de arte contemporânea em Lisboa, Portugal que cruza três áreas num espaço de debate, de descoberta, de pensamento crítico e de diálogo internacional. Está situado na zona de Belém, junto a rio Tejo, em terrenos conquistados por Lisboa ao rio Tejo, no final do século XIX, numa das zonas de maior monumentalidade histórica da cidade onde podemos encontrar, entre outros, o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, o Centro Cultural de Belém, a Torre de Belém, o Padrão dos Descobrimentos, o Palácio e Museu da Presidência da República Portuguesa, ou a Cordoaria Nacional.
Construída estrategicamente na margem norte do rio Tejo, entre 1514 e 1520, para defesa da barra de Lisboa, é uma das jóias da arquitectura do reinado de D. Manuel I. No conjunto arquitectónico podemos separar dois corpos distintos, modelos da arquitectura militar: a torre de menagem medieval e o baluarte moderno que, com dois níveis para disparo de artilharia, permitia um tiro de maior alcance, rasante e em ricochete sobre a água. É uma referência cultural, um símbolo da especificidade do país que passa pelo diálogo privilegiado com outras culturas e civilizações. Guardiã da nossa Individualidade e Universalidade, viu este estatuto confirmado quando, em 1983, foi classificada pela UNESCO como "Património Cultural de toda a Humanidade".
Isolado e destacado no paredão à beira do Tejo, o Padrão dos Descobrimentos evoca a expansão ultramarina portuguesa, sintetiza um passado glorioso e simboliza a grandeza da obra do Infante D. Henrique, o impulsionador das descobertas. Uma caravela estilizada faz-se ao mar, levando à proa o Infante D. Henrique e alguns dos protagonistas (32) da gesta ultramarina e da cultura da época, navegadores, cartógrafos, guerreiros, colonizadores, evangelizadores, cronistas e artistas, são retratados com os símbolos que os individualizam.
O Centro Cultural de Belém localiza-se na praça do Império. Foi concebido originalmente para acolher a sede da presidência portuguesa da Comunidade Europeia e posteriormente para desenvolver actividade cultural.
O Mosteiro dos Jerónimos encontra-se classificado como Monumento Nacional desde 1907 e, em 1983, foi classificado como Património Mundial pela UNESCO, juntamente com a Torre de Belém. A 7 de Julho de 2007 foi eleito como uma das sete maravilhas de Portugal. Estreitamente ligado à Casa Real Portuguesa e à epopeia dos Descobrimentos, o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos foi, desde muito cedo, interiorizado como um dos símbolos da nação.
Outrora palácio de reis, é hoje monumento nacional e sede da Presidência da República Portuguesa.

We booked a 4-hour tuk tuk tour of Lisbon at very short notice, and I was amazed that everything was arranged and confirmed so quickly. Our tuk-tuk experience went wonderfully well. Our guide Thierry Fernández was great. He played music for us throughout the trip "Fado"! The "pastéis de nata" were succulent.
