This was the most amazing trip we have ever had. The overnight camping was awesome (one of a kind experience) in the white desert. The experience started from the time the driver picked us up from our hotel to the Bahariya Oasis where they served us a 3-course meal. It was a very cute place. We were transferred to a rugged 4x4 and an hour or so ride to the campsite. On the way we stopped by a cold and warm geyser, Black desert, Crystal mountain and mushroom rock formation. The camp was very nicely setup and decorated. We were servered with some snacks while the tour guide prepared amazing dinner. The sunset was beautiful. We got the total desert experience with all night sandstorm which was something we could not have experienced anywhere else. The sunrise was amazing and we enjoyed the light breeze with quiteness as the storm subsided early morning. The service from the time of pick up to return to our hotel was excellent. The drive is a bit long ~5 hours from Cairo but with the private tour we totally enjoyed it with comfort.
I was really disappointed with the arrangements on offer. We were charged around £180/person for a 3 member group. When we first arrived the the lunch (included) was very basic. The jeep that was provided to us was rickety, old and tired. In fact it broke down couple of times on the road. Although we were promised an English speaking guide, it was never provided. However, these were nothing compared to the ordeal at the actual desert. The tents were small. cramped, without any light. The blankets provided were not clean. There are no toilet facilities. The food cooked by the driver was good but was served on dirty utensils. Some stale bananas and Guavas were provided as desserts. In the morning the breakfast provided was also stale. When we complained about this to the tour operator no action was taken. The only good thing was the natural beauty. But please expect worst arrangement.
Dear valued customer, Firstly let me thank you for taking from your time to review your trip. With hundreds of satisfied clients and daily trips to the white desert which has always achieved customers satisfaction and 5 stars reviews. We are sad that this did not happen in your case. Let us clarify some points for you. Your trip is a camping tour in the white desert and this is a natural reserve no toilets, no running water, no electricity are allowed. All clients booking this tour are aware of this fact because they read content carefully most probably you did not read about this. In the tour description of what is included it does not mention any thing about an English speaking guide provided. Please go back to tour what is included “4x4 transport with private Bedouin desert guide and driver” so you were provided what was included. In the desert there are no fancy restaurants in fact there are nothing at all and all clients have complimented the barbecue dinner cooked on the spot by the Bedouin. All food and utensils are carried along to supply clients when needed. I hope this clarifies things for you to have a better understanding of what to expect in a desert camping trip.
excellent experince , seemed out of the world routine , all alone in the desert - different types - white black sandy windy foggy stony ...starry sky , small camping tent to fit 2 , great service by the driver cum cook cum guide - campfire- food - everything was way above expectations
We enjoyed the tour a lot and from the Oasis point the adventure started with several stops and even sandboarding. When the clouds disappeared we could enjoy the night sky. BBQ diner food was really delicious, cooked by our guide. Great trip with a great guidr. FYI, due to traffic jams drop off in downtown Cairo might be later, around 7pm in our case. Would recommend.
The black desert is amazing..like an alien movie set out of this world. The drive is breathtaking...memorable experience
Everything was great. We covered all spots we wanted to visit and a few more the next day. The dinner prepared by the driver/guide was made from scratch and tasted delicious !
This was an amazing trip despite the cold temperatures and windy weather that whipped up the desert sands. The black desert had stunning rock colours and patterns and even though it was too windy to climb to the top of the mountain, we enjoyed the view. The crystal mountain had some great rock formations and a lovely view as well. The white desert was quiet and peaceful, the wind finally dropping overnight so that we could enjoy the campfire and stars! There were beautiful rock formations completely untouched by graffiti, garbage and noise pollution! Our drivers and guides were wonderful, going above and beyond to make sure that we saw and experienced everything and that we were comfortable, warm and well fed!
