Itinerary
We will meet at the agreed time with the guide in Parque del Poblado to begin this exciting adventure to the famous town of zócalos: Guatapé!
To start the day with the best energy, we will take a short break along the way to enjoy a rich traditional breakfast.
Next, we will pass through the town of the New Peñol, whose urban center was built as a result of the relocation of the inhabitants of the Old Peñol when the construction of the Guatapé dam became effective. As we drive down its main street, we will see the iconic sculpture of the Phoenix, symbolizing the rebirth of the community, and a colorful mural honoring tomato growers, key figures in the region's economy and culture.
Our first stop is the Réplica of the Old Peñol, a scale replica of the old town square where we can enjoy a majestic view of the dam and admire the colonial style of its architecture. Get your camera ready and take a photo of yourself dressed up in a ruana on one of the balconies of the establishments you'll find there!
Wait, THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE PEÑOL ROCK! Can you imagine climbing the 700 steps that lead to the top of this enormous batholith and being rewarded with a spectacular 360º view of the surrounding landscape? Sounds incredible, doesn't it?
After the exciting climb up of the Peñol Rock, we will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch to recharge our batteries and continue enjoying the tour.
Finally, we will take a short walking tour with our guide, exploring the most emblematic corners of Guatapé, such as the iconic Calle de las Sombrillas, Plaza de los Zócalos, Calle del Recuerdo, and Parque Central. You will then have free time to continue exploring the town at your own pace or, if you wish, complement your experience by riding a jet ski or taking a spectacular helicopter flight, creating memories that will remain in your hearts forever!
Afterwards, we will continue our tour with a relaxing luxury boat ride on the reservoir, where you can see the islands emerging from the water and contemplate the impressive landscapes and amazing properties that notable personalities from Medellín own in this area.
Before returning to Medellin, we will stop at a small animal farm to spend time with LLAMAS and HORSES. There you can feed them and interact with them.
We will return to where we met in the morning (Parque del Poblado) at around 7:00 p.m.

For the Guatapé & Piedra del Peñol tour, you could leave something like this: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent tour and definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Medellín. The day was well organized, the transportation was comfortable, and we were able to experience a lot without feeling like we were just being rushed from place to place. Climbing Piedra del Peñol was absolutely worth it—the views from the top are incredible. I also really enjoyed exploring the colorful town of Guatapé and seeing the reservoir. The guide did a great job throughout the day and made the experience easy and enjoyable. If you’re visiting Medellín and want to experience Guatapé and Piedra del Peñol in one day without worrying about transportation or planning everything yourself, I highly recommend this tour.
It’s along trip and worth it. Guides Nico and Erickson were so upbeat and made the trip really nice and fun. Lunch was not really good quality but will do. The time in Guatape town is real tight and you need to move quickly to see all the “must pass by” streets. I really appreciated the communication skills of the organizers and the driving of the bus was nice and steady.
The whole experience was amazing instructions was clear and much time was allotted to different activities. The guide made sure we were comfortable at all times and clear history was spoken about different areas of the tour. Would totally recommend
I had an amazing time. Dayana was very good. She explained all the details once we arrive and double checked to make sure we understood everyrhing that was going on. She was lively, friendly and knowledgeable about each place we went to. The price was great for all we saw, the food and the bus. The place was very beautiful and the time wasn't too long or short it was perfect and filled my day with new adventures. I like that they split the tour into two separate groups one for English and the other Spanish. This made the groups less crowded but we all were able to identify and look out for each other. It was awesome. Thank you.
It was great! Both Erickson and Nico were great guides! The boat ride, jet ski, and the overall exploration were well worth the price. Only unfortunate thing was the traffic, but that’s out of your control! Great tour! You are in for a full day experience but it’s very worth it. Don’t let the rock defeat you.
It was a very fun trip to see a different side of Colombia not too far from Medellin. It doesn’t include the ticket to the mountain so just keep that in mind.
There is nothing ‘premium’ about this so called ‘premium experience’. The first stop where you have breakfast is a service station on the side of a motorway which is full of tourists. The breakfast was not as pictured. There is a zoo in the service station which is the part where you visit the animals … it is a complete tourist trap. The tour guides did not guiding whatsoever - the only part of the day where they accompany you is for a 30 min tour of Guatape. They did not teach us anything new all day, I would say they are more babysitters accompanying you to each pitstop rather than guides. The boat tour was nice but the guides were completely clueless - they pointed out what they claimed to have been Pablo Escobar’s house but when we googled it that was in fact not his house. The tour was poorly organised - it was an extremely busy day in Guatape and we ended up getting back to Medelin at 10pm due to traffic. The claim they didn’t know how busy it would be but it was a bank holiday in Colombia so frankly they should have known better and reorganised the schedule slightly for the day
It was the best time. Our tour guide was the best. The overall experience was outstanding. The driver was good and the team took good care of us... will do again
Nico and the crew were very friendly and made sure we had a good time ! Recommend this for sure and you will be in for a good time with Nico!
We had a fantastic day with Jairo! The tour was very well organized and professional. Jairo was very good at storytelling and made sure we all were well taken care of. Although my family speaks Spanish, Jairo speaks perfect English. The food was also really good. Definitely recommend this tour!
