PR9 Caldeirão Verde Queimadas Levada Self-Guided Hiking Transfer

Transfer worked very well - pick up at start and end was on time, the driver was friendly and informative. I would use Get to Hike again. The hike itself is quite a long one (over 16k with the final walk required for pick up) but was lovely at all stages. At points some of the views are excellent and you realise how high you are and how steep the drops are - but always feel safe. The only downside was that it was a busy hike and had lots of narrow parts and tunnels with some waiting for queues of people to pass.

A must do hike if you’re in Madeira. Our guide Cristiano was so kind and gave very clear instructions - would highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the trip. Our driver was very friendly and we enjoyed the ride to and from the trail. PR9 is a beautiful levada walk with amazing scenery, although it was surprisingly crowded even on a very rainy day.

Well in accordance with the description. Comfortable transfer at the time and place indicated. The driver provides the necessary information for the PR9 hike. Just a shame that it is so crowded in the month of August.

Trail was an experience, highly recommend it! Changes to the pick-up schedule very late and all confusing instruction send by email was not so great. Also pick-up car broke down on the way up and we needed to hike to the start. It was ok (obviously) but the request to compensate was rejected due to having a taxi for return trip! How is that the partisipants fault? All the people met during the trip were great.

It was a really nice trip, easy and beautiful route. Can be done in running shoes in good weather. You have to count on many people on the route, and you have to be ready on narrow paths where you have to make room for passers by. We had little time, so there was limited time for the break and we had to hurry up to reach the agreed pickup time. We were leaving from 9:30-14:45, and could easily have spent 1.5 hours more, to have time to enjoy the view more. Please note that the tour is not guided, but that you get driving and explanation of the route. The route is easy, so it is easy to find.

The transfer to the PR9 hike was overall very good. Cristiano was running a bit late at the start, but it wasn’t an issue at all, as the time was made up by giving us extra time on the hike. After picking up a few other guests, we drove straight to the beginning of the PR9 trail. Cristiano was very helpful. He explained everything clearly and shared useful tips before we started, which made the whole experience smoother. Because the road gets extremely crowded in the afternoon, the plan was to pick us up at the end of the PR9.1 trail, which is considered one of the easiest trails on the island. The PR9 itself is also very easy overall, especially for anyone who is active or does sports regularly. The views along the trail are absolutely unreal, and the highlight is a stunning waterfall about 100 meters long, ending in a small pond, definitely worth the hike. The path is quite narrow, so you’ll often have to squeeze past others, almost like playing twister, but those interactions actually make the experience more fun. The only real “challenge” are the four tunnels along the route. The longest one is around 200 meters, and you definitely need to watch your head while passing through. Good hiking shoes are highly recommended, as the path can be rocky and uneven in places. All in all, it was a great experience, easy, scenic, and well organised. I can definitely recommend it.
