Description
This tour is for travellers based in Lisbon with one free day who still want the icons, the river and, if they choose, a Port tasting, without stations, train timetables or luggage logistics. Your driver-guide picks you up around 6am. After a direct drive, you have around seven hours in Porto. The morning is about three hours on foot through the historic centre: climb the Clérigos Tower, step into the Sé Cathedral cloister, and walk the medieval Ribeira down to the Douro, crossing the Dom Luís I bridge for the best view over Porto and Gaia. Lunch is your call, with your guide's local pick. The Standard option includes skip-the-line entry to Livraria Lello, where the queue often wraps around the block; we handle everything so you walk straight in. The wine options swap the Lello visit for a tasting at Caves Ferreira in Gaia, founded in 1751 and the only Port house that has always stayed Portuguese, the Ferreirinha: choose 5 Ports, 4 Vintage Ports, or 3 still Douro DOC wines.

I did the Porto tour from Lisbon as well as the private tour of Lisbon. Worth every penny, especially if you’re tight on time, and want to see the most you can in a short period. Susana was AWESOME. She tailored each tour to my exact liking, took care of every detail, especially with my injured ankle. She even had a stepping stool to help me get into the car!! She is a safe, calm driver, and a pleasant, knowledgeable, fun companion. I was travelling solo and we had a great time together!! If I’m ever back in Lisbon I’ll be doing the rest of the tours and asking specifically for Susana.

Excellent experience on our tour with Carlos to Sintra and Cascais. He had our whole family of five and we felt very well taken cared of, fantastic information and great small group tour. From pick-up to drop off, Carlos made us feel well taken cared off.

Our driver with Avenidas on the day of pickup was amazing! Right on time and took us to our hotel with no delays or problems! Will definitely use their services again once I am back in the beautiful country of Portugal!

Offering an excursion in which the guide goes with GPS to some places in Porto was inappropriate. The tour started an hour late, we arrived without time to see the places we had hired on the tour. To top it off when he was supposed to pick us up to return to Lisbon we found out that the police had taken the car, the problem is that we didn’t find out until we had been in the pickup place for an hour and it was quite cold. We have been travelling in European cities for six years and we have never felt cheated before. Out of respect we will not say the name of the guide but I recommend that you never hire this excursion. We feel let down, cheated.

Picked up by Rui in the morning to go to Porto via Nazare. We had a wonderful time. The car was quite comfortable and the trip went at our own pace. Rui is passionate about Portugal and quite knowledgeable. He suggested that we stop at Aveiro and it was an excellent idea as Aveiro is really worth a visit. It is the Venice of Portugal. Throughout the trip, we had interesting conversations and we could stop any time we wished. I can't recommend more.
