Tour Options
Itinerary
Our first stop is an option on this tour, visiting the world-famous Durdle Door, a spectacular natural limestone arch carved by the sea. Reaching the viewpoint involves an uneven walk of around 15-20 minutes each way, so this stop is best suited for confident walkers with sturdy footwear. Those who make the effort are rewarded with one of the most iconic and breathtaking views along the Jurassic Coast.
A highlight of the tour is Lulworth Cove, a stunning horseshoe-shaped bay formed over thousands of years by coastal erosion. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers crystal-clear waters, dramatic limestone cliffs, and charming walking paths. You’ll have time to explore the cove, enjoy the views, and learn about the area’s fascinating geology and natural history.
Another highlight is the visit to Corfe Castle, a dramatic thousand-year-old ruin perched above a historic village. Steeped in history and legend, the castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and a glimpse into England’s medieval past. You’ll have time to explore the village, browse local shops, or enjoy a cup of tea in one of its charming pubs.
The tour includes a stop in Weymouth, a charming seaside town with a picturesque harbour and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat, enjoy some traditional fish and chips, or simply stroll along the quayside and take in the views of colourful boats and historic buildings.
After lunch, we stop at the iconic Olympic Rings monument on the Isle of Portland, offering one of the best panoramic views in the region. This scenic viewpoint overlooks Chesil Beach, the Jurassic Coast, and Weymouth Bay, providing the perfect introduction to the area's dramatic landscape. The monument itself commemorates the sailing events of the 2012 London Olympics, which were held in nearby Portland Harbour. It’s a great photo opportunity and a chance to take in the scale and beauty of England’s only natural World Heritage Site before continuing your journey along the coast.
If time Allows - You’ll visit Portland Bill, the southernmost point of the Isle of Portland. This rugged headland is home to the striking red and white lighthouse and offers dramatic views over the English Channel. It’s a fantastic spot to experience the wild beauty of the Jurassic Coast, watch the waves crash against the rocks, and capture some memorable photos before heading to your next destination.

After a snafu with the credit card, we were able to make this trip with Ellen and Steve and Daniel the driver. They were tremendous!! So much information and we saw all sorts of site! Highly recommend this troop for anyone for a wonderful day…they gave us a new appreciation for the Isle of Portland
Wonderful excursion. Tim & Nikki were great tour guides & Dave was the best driver ever. Very very long excursion, but very informative & we thoroughly enjoyed it. Just ready to get back to ship after 7 hours!!!
Thank you so much for your lovely review, Janet! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your day with us, and we'll be sure to pass your kind comments on to Tim, Nikki and Dave. Just to note, our tours don't usually run quite as long. As you visited during August, our busiest month of the year, and on a Saturday, traffic was a little heavier than normal, which extended the journey times a little. We're so pleased you had a great day, and we hope to welcome you back to Dorset again in the future! All the best from the team & I.
We really liked our excursion - the views were superb once we got out of the beginning of the port which was a bit more run-down in my opinion but was worth it afterwards. Our guides were really great for a large group and well organized - the walking times to get to the viewpoints were a bit longer than anticipated, but were really worth it! A bit more tiring for older people and those less in shape, but doable. I recommend it!
This is a great shore excursion to enjoy in Portland. Elaine, Steve and Dave, our tour guides and driver were very knowledgeable and friendly. They do have to wait to clear security to get through the port. It did take 30 minutes, but we were informed of this up front.
We had a great day with Tim and Elaine as our guides! They were so knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed all the stops, but personally would have preferred to skip maybe the lighthouse and have more time to actually walk the path down closer to Durdle Door. But overall I highly recommend booking this tour!
Wasn't sure what to expect at this port but this was a fabulous tour with breathtaking views and lots of stops! Tour guide and driver were great! Highly Recommend!!
We were definitely skeptical at first considering there was a bump in the beginning of our trip. The shuttle bus did not arrive on time and we were a little delayed in getting started. Once they arrived, they were very apologetic and commended us for our patience and understanding. The delay did not affect our tour. They were able to add the time to the end of the tour and we were able to see everything we were supposed to. The tour itself was wonderful. Marianne was our tour guide and she was not only friendly, but very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the area. Our favorite spots were Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. We wish we could have walked down to the bottom view of Durdle Door rather than the view from above but then again, we would have had to of skipped something else on the tour and we enjoyed ALL of the stops! We enjoyed Corfe Castle as well. The bus driver also deserves a compliment. Those roads were narrow and the traffic was busy. I had mentioned to my husband on several occasions, “I’m so happy we aren’t driving this!” Overall, this was an amazing taste of the Jurassic Coast.
Tim was an absolutely wonderful guide! The views and stories were fabulous!! Lulworth was the cutest town! Not much traveling!
Marianne was a fantastic guide. I loved her informative story-telling way of providing us with local knowledge. She was enthusiastic and energetic. Loved walking to the castle ruins and Dordle Arch. Awesome scenery. Had great GF homemade ice cream in the village - salted caramel and clotted cream flavors. Delicious!
This was an excellent excursion and exactly as described on the Viator website. We were able to do everything that was promised, and the time at each stop was just right for a great introduction to the area. Ian, our driver, was fantastic and made us feel safe throughout the day. Tim, our primary guide, was professional, informative, and friendly. Elaine, our secondary guide, was absolutely phenomenal and truly made the experience memorable. Highly recommend this tour!
