Fabulous private collection , well worth the visit , friendly guide available to give you some information , really enjoyed it
I am glad friends told me about this museum because it was a fantastic start to my last day in Palermo. The tiles are beautiful and the guide was wonderful. His knowledge of the history and the evolution of the designs of the tiles deepened my appreciation for them. A tip of the hat to the person who collected and makes these tiles available for viewing!
Amazing place to visit !! The maioliche collection is fantastic and cover such an interesting and diverse part of art history. The guided visit is really interesting and attentive, the reception is caring, you can tell the place is managed by passionated people. The fact the apartment is lived in gives it a very lively atmosphere, perfect for anyone interested in design and art in general. In top of everything it’s obvious the management of the museums cares about feedbacks and is actively involved in making the experience as great as possible. I recommend it very warmly, organise around the quirky opening times and go support a very unique and special initiative it’s really worth it.
This museum is also a house and a very special space indeed. Each room tells the story of a region and era through the tiles. Antonio’s tour, given in English, was so informative and fascinating. The tiles are the true stars. They are beautifully displayed. Everywhere you look is a new treat for the eye. You can spend about an hour here. Well worth it! Tip, when you get to the address, you will ring in on the pad to the right of the door. Look for the museum’s name to be rung in.
Beautiful museum, truly amazing. It is really worth seeing to discover a little-known art but of the highest level. Very interesting the guided tour.
We visited this wonderful museum, the only majolica-museum in the world! We had a great tour guided by Claudio, a very well English speaking historian. When you visit Palermo this is a must see! Great collection of majolica tiles in a beautiful palazzo. There are also collections of writing materials and cans.
We had an excellent guide, Claudio, who was very well-speaking in English and very informative about this unique majolica-museum. The only one in the world! It’s a must see when you are in Palermo. Besides the majolica there are also interesting collections of writing-material and cans.
The museum of majolica has gone beyond expectations, revealing itself as a hidden little jewel of our city. It starts with a guided tour during which you learn interesting news about the art of making majolica over the centuries and in different places in Italy and appreciate the peculiarities of the pieces on display. At the end, you can stop to admire calmly the collection, enriched with antique furniture, furniture even contemporary and minor collections such as toys, tin boxes, etc. Congratulations to the owners who have decided to share with the public this cultural heritage and congratulations to the staff who welcomes and accompanies visitors in discovering a cross-section of the history of Palermo and our country.
This wonderful private collection is a must-see for every tile/ceramics/majolica lover! Set in a private home this gem is a bit hidden, you enter a normal apartment building on a side street in Kalsa and just ring the doorbell. Inside however you enter an experience totally lifted out of the mundane and dedicated to beauty. The walls carry (a part of) the unbelieveable collection of tiles, very stylishly presented, as well as collections of interesting household and other everyday antique objects. For a 10 € entrance fee you also get a guided tour, after which you can still stay a while to look through. The staff, consisting of a guide and ticket salesperson, were cordial and accommodatig.
