Old Quebec City Food Tour with 10+ Authentic Local Tastings

Description
Old Québec is North America's most European city, and this tour puts its flavors front and center. Over five stops through cobblestone streets lined with 400 year old architecture, you'll eat your way through centuries of Québécois food culture, from rustic comfort food to refined local ingredients. You'll start with earthy Lion's Mane mushrooms and duck breast carpaccio, then warm up with the holy trio of traditional Québécois cooking: silky pea soup, savory pâté chinois, and fresh maple taffy. A 200-year-old home serves handmade gnocchi bathed in cheddar, cream, shallot, and white wine with a black garlic crumble. A sweet stop brings you sucre à la crème and what many locals call the best croissant in the city. Then you close the only way you should: with poutine. On Sundays and Mondays, the gnocchi stop is swapped for a warming oat risotto crowned with a rock shrimp salad. Groups are kept small so every stop feels personal.

Itinerary
The tour is held within the walls of Old Québec the historic neighborhood.
The iconic grand hotel that dominates Old Québec's skyline. A symbol of the city perched above the St. Lawrence River, it is one of the most photographed landmarks in Canada and a centerpiece of the historic upper town.
Québec City's seat of municipal government, a notable architectural stop in the old town
The wooden boardwalk running along the St. Lawrence River beside Château Frontenac. It offers sweeping views over the water and is one of the scenic stops woven into the walking route through Old Québec.
Tucked into the cobblestone streets of the old town sit two of Old Québec's most charming curiosities, side by side. The first is a narrow little building often called the smallest house in North America, the kind of hidden gem most visitors stroll right past without a second glance. Right beside it stands the historic Ursuline Convent, founded in 1639 and home to the oldest girls' school on the continent. Your guide brings the contrast to life, sharing the quirky, surprising, and sometimes touching stories behind both, the tiny and the grand, in one stop.
Québec City's famous Swiss clock, a quirky local landmark the guide points out along the route while sharing the city's surprising history.

Tricia was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. She gave us so much Quebec City history as well. We enjoyed every minute and the food was amazing! Highly recommend.
Trish was informative in regards to the history of the area and the restaurants we went to. She was very nice
Samuel was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. His take on the history of the foods, plus info on the sites we passed was lots of fun. He is an A+ tour guide. The tour had very interesting foods that were all so delicious, and the restaurants were accommodating and pleasant. Great tour.
Claude was very informative and friendly In comparison to our other food tours the food offerings were skimpy (for $100 per person). No wine or beer ( that was another $37 per person). Very small portions but all were tasty. Just not a great value.
Delightful trip. Yummy food. Nice company. Tour guide Claude was fun and knowledgeable.
We loved the Tour! Good food and some good history.
Worth it! Wide variety of foods, sensible portions, lots of history, not too much walking (but hilly). 10 bites, 3 hours, 4 restaurants. Good group of 14 others (all Americans). Local guide. Good conversation over each dish. We were able to sit down at each restaurant, something we have not found on previous food tours.
We enjoyed showing you around. We hope the tour helped you see some of the city through the places locals enjoy. Thank you for making Secret Food Tours part of your visit!
Trisha was wonderful. Not only did we have a delicious and interesting food tour, we got a bit of a history and architectural tour. Lots of great information.
We’re pleased the experience left a positive impression. We put thought into choosing stops that give guests more than just a meal. Thank you for discovering them with Secret Food Tours!
What a fun and delicious walking tour! (Even if we got caught in the rain!) Sam, our guide, was easy to understand and very well versed in the history of Quebec City. I was told this tour had plenty of food and they were right. (It starts at 11AM so skip eating an early lunch before going.) It is a 3 hour tour and well worth the time. We had Quebec style pea soup- delicious. A duck breast carpaccio- good! Maple taffy- yummy. Quebec style maple fudge- to die for. At another stop a house-made croissant that is the best I've had anywhere- including Paris! Some other items were included and, of course, poutine (an eastern Canada staple) which seems to be soggy french fries with canned gravy and cheese curds. Yuk. (I went on two food tours in eastern Canada this trip and had poutine both times. Yuk again.) At one stop we were served an "oat risotto crowned with a small rock shrimp salad"- it wasn't just me- three other people on the tour said it was terrible, sorry. I eat like a horse and was full after this tour. All in all, it was both a fun and delicious way to spend 3 hours in Quebec City. Would I do it again? Yes!
There’s always more to discover in a city. We’re glad you chose to uncover some of it with us through local food and neighborhoods. Thank you for joining Secret Food Tours!
Excellent. Guide was great and so was the food. Learned a lot from our guide. He had great knowledge of the city. He was very personable and pleasant.
