Ohrid cooking classes

Description
You'll learn new cooking techniques that can easily be repeated at home. I was fortunate enough to grow up among the best cooks, my grandmother and my mother. Let the food be our language. I will introduce you how the ingredients can be made at home. In the past times people didn't have many ingredients and used their skills to make the best possible meal. The most important thing in Macedonian cuisine is that the dishes are made from only a few ingredients and you must use your imagination to make the testiest dish from the available products. Vegetarians are welcomed. Please let me know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.

It was truly a fantastic experience. Absolutely the most beautiful and authentic thing we did during our stay in Ohrid. Sonia and her husband welcomed us from the very first moment in a truly genuine and joyful way. It was nice to share food with them and be able to have a chat. It is an experience that I definitely recommend. A 100% authentic and real experience, not those fake touristy things. Also, I am a vegetarian and there was no problem at all; in fact, we cooked several vegetable-based dishes, you just need to communicate it at the time of booking!
Thank you very much for the beautiful words and you are always wellcome here.
Very nice experience with a very nice couple. The workshop teaches you the tricks of Macedonian cuisine. You get a lot of background information with it which I found very interesting. We especially loved the bread dips and will definitely make them at home. That is also one of Sonja's goals: to teach you something you can easily apply at home.
We had a really fantastic evening and totally recommend this course. Pick up was exactly on time - despite our accommodation being a little out of the way. We shared our evening with two other guests - which really added to it. We made Sarma and Burek. Learnt a lot about local cookery and the country. Sonja & Zoran were perfect hosts.
We have done a lot in our 7 days in Macedonia and Sonja’s cookery class was undoubtedly the best experience we had. We learnt so much from both her and her husband Zoran about cookery, history, languages and culture just by chatting over cooking and having coffee and wine with them. Communication and pick up was very smooth from our hotel as they came to meet us in their car. Their house is lovely and their gardens have amazing fruit and nut trees - some of the cooking ingredients were even grown in their garden. We made two big dishes and a dip and were incredibly full by the end! We were so touched by their incredible hospitality and will definitely be back another time to learn more. Thank you so much Sonja and Zoran!
I'm so happy that you like everything. You are always wllcomed
Sonja was an excellent instructor and made us feel so welcome. We cooked and ate a variety of traditional foods and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience, food was delicious and very traditional. The host was lovely and very hospitable, a must do when visiting Ohrid!
Sonja and her husband are very nice and hospitable people who make you feel at home during the whole activity. As we had a rental car we agreed on meeting at a gas station just out of town around noon and were escorted to the location the cooking class took place at (a nice and quiet garden compound). On arrival we were welcomed by their dog Whitey, a really nice guy! During the class we could participate in preparation of all dishes, so you won't get bored. In our class, we prepared Komat (Burek), some nice dips and Tavče Gravče. As plenty of food is prepared, I would suggest only having a light breakfast. If you have any food allergies or preferences, make sure to tell Sonja beforehand and she will make sure that the requirements are met. The class took about 3.5 hours that just flew by, as it was a lot of fun!
This was one of the most special experiences of my trip. Because it was so close to Easter, it ended up being a private 1-on-1 experience, which made it even more personal and meaningful. Sonja welcomed me into her home like family, and I was lucky enough to also meet her mother and mother-in-law, which made it feel even more authentic. We cooked together in her apartment kitchen, completely hands-on, with coffee, conversation, and so much warmth. It didn’t feel like a class at all, more like spending time with family, learning, laughing, and sharing stories. Her husband even kindly picked me up and later we all enjoyed a beautiful walk back into town together. If you’re looking for something real, personal, and full of heart in Ohrid, this is it. A truly unforgettable experience.
💕💕💕 you are always wellcome in our house
Maybe one of the best culinary experiences ever had! Sonja was amazing! A gracious and friendly host who welcomed us into her home to prepare traditional Macedonian dishes
We had the pleasure of a cooking class with Sonja this summer and had the most wonderful time. Pick up and drop off was super smooth. Sonja was incredibly accommodating of us being vegetarian and we cooked delicious dishes with Sonja providing some cultural and historical context behind the dishes. A beautiful setting, fabulous company and an absolute must-do if you are visiting Ohrid!
