Notre Dame Cathedral Interior and Exterior Guided Tour

Description
Notre-Dame de Paris is one of the world’s most iconic cathedrals and the historic heart of the city. On this small-group tour, you’ll discover both the exterior and interior of the newly restored cathedral with a professional, friendly and multilingual guide (English/French). Outside, your guide will help you decode the Gothic façade and sculpted details that have watched over Paris for centuries; inside, you’ll step into the nave to admire the soaring vaults, stained glass and sacred atmosphere while learning how history, faith and art shaped this masterpiece. After the guided visit, enjoy free time inside the cathedral to walk, reflect, take photos or simply soak up the unique ambience at your own pace—close enough to feel the emotion, far from the feeling of a rushed, crowded visit.

Itinerary
Meet your guide at the statue of Charlemagne located on the square in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. After a brief introduction to the tour and the group, your guide will tell you about the history of the cathedral and its importance to Paris and France.
Begin with a guided visit of the exterior of the cathedral. Your guide will draw your attention to the main elements of the façade and other visible details—statues, portals, sculpted scenes, decorative stonework—and explain how they fit into the story of the building and its role over the centuries.
Then continue with a guided visit inside Notre-Dame Cathedral. With your guide’s commentary, you’ll discover the main spaces of the interior, appreciate the volume of the nave and the play of light, and learn more about the symbolism, works of art and major moments in the cathedral’s life, up to its recent restoration.
After the guided portion, you will have around 30 minutes of free time inside the cathedral. You can stay longer in the nave, visit chapels, spend a quiet moment, take photos (respecting the rules of the site) or simply enjoy the atmosphere before leaving the cathedral at your own pace.

I booked an English language tour, but it was in French. I can get by in French, but not for a detailed tour of such a historic and detailed place like Notre Dame de Paris. I’m sure the tour guide did a wonderful job - he seemed to know a lot. But, I only picked up about a quarter of it. Would have probably loved it in English. Viator did me a little dirty on this one.
Dear John, Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are truly sorry to hear about the disappointment you felt during your visit. After carefully reviewing your booking, we can confirm that the tour reserved was indeed scheduled as a French-language guided visit. At our agency, we always deliver the service exactly as it is booked on the platform, which in this case was a tour conducted in French. We completely understand how frustrating this situation must have been, especially for such a rich and detailed visit. Unfortunately, we are unable to determine what may have caused this misunderstanding at the time of booking. As your reservation was made via Viator, we kindly recommend reaching out directly to their customer support team so they can investigate and assist you further. We sincerely regret that this experience did not meet your expectations and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on an English-guided tour, so you can fully enjoy and appreciate the history and beauty of Notre Dame. Kind regards, France Tourisme.
