ABOUT SUN STUDIO Sun Studio is known worldwide as “The Birthplace of Rock’n’roll”. It is the discovery location of musical legends and genres of the 50’s from B.B. King and Elvis Presley to Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis; from Blues and Gospel to Country and Rock’n'roll. Today our goal is to spread the story of Memphis’ history and culture through the music that put Memphis on the map. Stand in the very same spot that Elvis first recorded. Your tour guide will tell you the inside stories of B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and Ike Turner before Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, & Roy Orbison who were all drawn to the new Sun Sound. See the priceless memorabilia from the musical legends that blended blues and country music to explode in the "big bang" of Rock'n'roll. Hear the voices of musicians that still haunt this studio, as you listen to outtakes from recording sessions and feel the energy of the music created here.
One of the most iconic streets in America – Beale Street is the Home of the Blues and the true birthplace of Rock n Roll. Spanning three blocks in Downtown Memphis – our collective history is woven into the music, and still on display via the nightclubs, restaurants, and shops that operate today.
Step back in time to the award-winning Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store. The restaurant serves southern soul food buffets daily, the region's best salad bar, and homemade desserts. Enjoy the nostalgic Miss Anne's Ice Cream Shoppe, the Dixie Cafe Takeout or Dine-In, and thousands of antiques on display.

We booked this trip through tripadvisor using Nashville Bestie Transportation, we booked in January for a July trip. From the very first day Robert (owner) was in touch reaching out to us, making sure we were aware of everything and giving his tips, comms then until the day we went were fab On the day Rob turned up in the awesome Model X, which was beautiful and loads of room for the long trip All four of us are vegan or vegetarian, Rob changed the snacks according and recommended places for it to eat whilst on the trip to Graceland and Memphis Graceland was amazing , well worth the trip, time and money Rob was ace, a real decent genuine person, a great company to deal with
Collected from our air b&b by our guide for the day 'Rob' in his Tesla. The vehicle was clean, tidy and spacious and comfortably fitted the 4 members of our group. Rob had kindly supplied us with Vegetarian and Vegan options for our trip after acknowledging our earlier email request which was fantastic and much appreciated 😊 During the long journey which included a 30 minute stop over at Casey Jones house ( outward ) and a Civil War Battlefield and service station ( inbound ) Rob, with his Deep South Nashvillian accent, continuously provided us with information about the tour, the USA in general and just about every other topic that came up in conversation. He was amazing throughout and made the journey super cool. Graceland was everything I wanted it to be, 3 hours at the location was enough but I could have squeezed in an extra hour if it would have been possible. There is sooooooo much to see, history to read and soak in and plenty of exhibits to look at, photograph and memories of 'The King' to absorb 🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵 An audio guide is available with the Tour but I found the device quite heavy, cumbersome and the headphones didn't work so well for me ( but all content is available on information boards as you work your way through the property) Absolutely loved Graceland. The short onward trip into Memphis took us to the Sun Recording Studios. Not a particular impressive building to look at but steeped in musical history and heritage. Very good and informative tour guides lead you along every step of the journey and there are plenty of opportunities to take photos. It's an amazing experience knowing you were actually in the studio where it all began for someone as iconic as Elvis Presley. The onward trip onto Beale Street was another opportunity for some 'tourist photos' but unlike Broadway in Nashville , there was little to no atmosphere on Beale Street due to A) the time of day and B) it's only a relatively small street and not very expansive. Myself and my group were disappointed with Beale Street but made up for it somewhat by venturing into the nearby world famous Peabody Hotel and soaking up the atmosphere in the lobby, grabbing a reasonably priced drink and getting some photos of the ducks 🦆 All in all, a long day but a great day, made more enjoyable by having Rob to help guide us through all aspects of the trip. Left him with a well deserved tip and would be more than happy to recommend him and his company to anyone else seeking the same experience as ourselves 👍🏻
It was a fabulous experience! Not only did we get to Graceland, we were also able to cover Beale Street, Civil Rights Museum(photo opportunity of Lorraine Motel), Sunday Studio, and as a special treat, we got to stop off and get a photo opportunity of Tina Turner's school! It really was a bucket list trip and a bargain. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was one of the best experiences of our trip to Nashville! I highly recommend it!
Fantastic trip with Robert from Nashville to Graceland and Sun Studios. Picked up on time, quick stop for breakfast and off to Graceland. Robert has this timed to perfection and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Highly recommend booking with Robert and if we’re lucky enough to return to Nashville would definitely book again
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Rob was a fantastic guide and driver for me and my family from Ireland. The day was organized perfectly from start to finish with pick up from our hotel and stops at Graceland, Sun Studios and Beale Street. Perfect trip to fit all the best spots in Memphis in 1 day. Rob was brilliant company for the trip and has vast knowledge of Nashville and Memphis. Highly recommend for the perfect day trip!
We had Robert recommended to us before we came out to Nashville and he did not disappoint! He made the experience way better than we could have hope for. Small touches such as refreshments, local knowledge, music choice and good company really added to our experience. If we were to come back we would 100% be using his services again.
Great experience, from pick up to drop off at the end of the day. Would highly recommend.
We booked the tour 4 months in advance,Robert came straight back to us with an agenda that suited us, he was happy to adjust it if we wanted. The day of the tour arrived and Robert picked us up at the hotel. The journey to Gracelands was 3.5 hours long with a stop in the middle however it didnt feel that long as Robert chatted to us and told us interesting facts all the way.Gracelands and Sun studios well worth the drive then a bite to eat on Beale St before back to Nashville.A big thanks to Robert he made the day with his professional approach. We would 100% recommendation taking this tour !!!
This was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t recommend it more. Jack was our driver and was so friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. We stopped off in Casey Jones Village for breakfast and Jack even went to Starbucks for my sister and me as we fancied one with breakfast! From start to finish Jack was chatty, accommodating and just all round great. He had ice cold drinks including fizzy and beer AND prosecco! Communication was fantastic. This was so much more personal than a coach trip and I’m so so glad we decided to go with this company. If anyone is visiting Nashville and wants to go to Memphis choose these! You won’t be disappointed I promise! They do other trips like Dollywood too!
Our group had an amazing time with Robert. He was equipped with snacks and refreshments for our journey into Memphis from Nashville. He is very well knowledgeable on the history of Nashville and Memphis. Highly recommend Robert for any of your guided tours/transportation.
