Lovamahapaya is a building situated between Ruwanweliseya and Sri Mahabodiya in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It is also known as the Brazen Palace or Lohaprasadaya because the roof was covered with bronze tiles.
The Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the swarnamali maha seya (lit. 'the Great Thupa'), is a stupa (a hemispherical structure containing relics) in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Two quarts or one Dona of the Buddha's relics are enshrined in the stupa, making it the largest collection of his relics anywhere.[1] It was built by Sinhalese King Dutugemunu in c. 140 B.C., who became king of Sri Lanka after a war in which the Chola King Elāra (Ellalan) was defeated.
Kuttam Pokuna (twin ponds or pools) are well preserved old bathing tanks or ponds in Sri Lanka.
The Samadhi Buddha is a famous statue situated at Mahamevnāwa park in anuradapura.the posture of meditation associated with his frist enlightenment.this statue is 7 feet 3 ininches of high and carved by granite marble.
Abhayagiri Vihāra was a major monastery site of Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism that was situated in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
this Alms giving place Located close to the Uttara Mula this is considered the main refectory of the Abayagiri Monastery. This is a square building with 42.7m on one side. Four stages of construction from early as the 1st century BC have been found during the excavation of the site.you can see some Rice Canoe.
Sandakada Pahana, also known as Moonstone, is a unique feature of the architecture of ancient Sri Lanka.[1][2][3] It is an elaborately carved semi-circular stone slab, usually placed at the bottom of staircases and entrances. First seen in the latter stage of the Anuradhapura period, the sandakada pahana evolved through the Polonnaruwa, Gampola and Kandyan period. According to historians, the sandakada pahana symbolises the cycle of Samsāra in Buddhism.
This gigantic man-made pond called “Eth Pokuna” or “Elephant Pond” is situated close to Lankaramaya in Anuradhapura. This is a rectangular pond, 159 meters in length 52.7 meters across and 9.5 meters in-depth with the holding capacity of 75,000 cubic meters of water. Eth Pokuna literary means “The Elephant Pond” due its scale. This is part of the landscape of the massive Abhayagriya monastery spreading over 500 acres. The tank is made out of large stone blocks stacked at an angle at the walls. There 3 sets of stairs to the bottom, in south, north and eastern sides. The bottom is not paved.

The tour with Ajee was amazing! You can choose your pace so we went at a very relaxed pace and ended up spending all day around the heritage site. He provided snacks, coffee, water and lunch which was all delicious. He is very passionate about Buddhism and gave us lots of information. Sometimes he speaks fast but you can ask any questions and he is happy to answer or repeat. It is a shared group tour. You can also book directly through him via WhatsApp +94 71 925 3542
We spent more than 4 hours with Ajee today. Pick-up 2 steps from the site with bikes. There were 5 of us with our grown children and he was particularly attentive to answering all our questions about the site, about Buddhism, and even about some first meditation exercises for one of our daughters! Ultra interesting guided tour to understand the site and the history, very pleasant bike ride, stop to drink because it was very hot. Frankly to be recommended with your eyes closed. Thanks again

We had such a great tour with Ajee, he is very flexible to work around your timeframe for the day. His passion and knowledge of the world heritage sites and Buddhism is exceptional. We also were treated to a delicious Sri Lankan morning tea and lunch to finish off the tour. We biked around 10km but you can do more or less. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Very good tour. Ajee is very knowledgeable about everything. He could answer any and all questions. His English is amazing and he seems to really care about all his customers. He supplied delicious snacks and even an amazing lunch at a local restaurant. Highly recommend if you want true knowledge about Sri Lankan Buddhism and a very intimate tour that can cater to any needs.

Ajee is full of knowledge and an amazing guide. We asked him a million questions and he always had an answer and with very good English as well. He continually gave us water and made sure we weren’t too hot or hungry and even took us to an amazing local spot for lunch after. 10/10

Ajee offered us a very beautiful discovery of Anuradhapura, both in terms of the temples and their history; he helped us better understand the philosophy of Buddhism. We tasted typical dishes. It is a very enriching experience. The bike tour allowed us to discover the Sri Lankan countryside and to observe the fauna and flora, and to taste some plants. We had an excellent day with Adee; he adapted to our pace. He has extensive knowledge of architecture, history, and Buddhist culture. Going from temple to temple by bike is a fun way to keep the kids entertained. Adee is a very friendly and cool person. We recommend him 200%, he is the best.
