Itinerary
Zabala Street is populated by austere and imposing buildings, like the one that stands gigantic in front of you. It is a historical monument of Montevideo, and one of the most representative of the old town: the headquarters of the Bank of the Republic.
So you are on the popular Rambla de Montevideo. With these 24km along the bay, it is the longest sea promenade in the world. This is really the place to come and take the pulse of the city. If you haven’t walked the Rambla, you haven’t actually been to Montevideo.
I hope this walk in Montevideo has made you hungry, because you arrive in front of its gastronomic temple, its Mercado del Puerto. Don’t let yourself be fooled by its Point of Sale name, you won’t find any fresh fish or seafood inside.
You reach the pedestrian street of Sarandi which leaves from the port to Plaza Independencia. Know that if you take it in the other direction, towards the sea, you can walk to the end of the pier where there are usually some fishermen, and enjoy the view.
Swearing a little with the rest of the landscape, you find here, on the Rambla, the English Temple. It’s quite unique to find a Protestant temple, from the Anglican church in Hispanic America.
The street you cross now is called the Cumparsita. Since the one before was Carlos Gardel Street, it might be time to take a look at the Tango.

Extremely frustrating experience. The setup process is terrible, and the app has been riddled with bugs from the start. It consistently glitches between languages and frequently crashes. In the middle of tour, it stopped working entirely. Avoid this app - save your time!
Hello Yuriy, I am very sorry for the extremely frustrating experience you had with the app and the setup process. Frequent crashes and the app stopping entirely in the middle of the tour are generally caused by an incomplete initial download. Regarding the language glitches, the language can be manually locked to English by selecting it in the app's Settings menu. Since you were unable to complete and enjoy the tour, please contact us directly via the booking platform's internal messaging system. This will allow us to easily locate your booking and process a refund for you. Georges
