Mdina, Rabat, Dingli cliffs, San Anton gardens, Ta' Qali & Mosta guided tour

Description
Today’s guided excursion takes us to the central part of Malta, dominated by the medieval fortified city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital city. The narrow, winding streets, dating back to medieval times, lead to the imposing bastions, commanding a magnificent panorama of the island. On the way there, you will discover different styles of architecture, including Siculo-Norman palaces and other baroque buildings of great historical importance. Time stands still in this ‘Silent City’ which is a film-maker’s paradise. Leaving Mdina through Greeks’ Gate, we stop at the early Christian catacombs in Rabat before proceeding to the cliffs at Dingli. After lunch we will visit the San Anton botanical gardens situated near the Presidential Palace, which you will be able to admire from outside. We shall also spend time at the crafts centre at Ta’ Qali. At the end of the tour, allow us to astound you with Mosta’s majestic dome, one of Europe’s largest.

Our guide Jean Paul was friendly, funny and welcoming, keeping the day moving at a nice pace and successfully corralling 43 people of various ages and mobilities. Long busy day but informative and fun guide. All sites were worth visiting except Dingli Cliffs although we were only there 10 minutes and the story is worth hearing. Coach driver Alan negotiated some very tight areas with aplomb. Lunch was pesto pasta starter, pork and veg main with a date pastry dessert. Ran to schedule.
A very good experience, pleasent that becaise the company who organized this trip, especially the guide Ian, if I remember well. It os worth it 100%!
Somewhat disappointing. The guide was somewhat repetitive and sparse in explanations. The worst part, after 2 hours of walking, is that having no water included in the menu is incomprehensible. We had to pay €2 per bottle. The wine, free..... All the hikers complained....
The sights were very interesting to see, but I was hoping for more of a traditional market like the Marsalokk Sunday Market. The Ta’ Qali craft village was a bit too touristy for my personal tastes.
I enjoyed this day tour very much. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed learning about the history and culture of Malta. I enjoyed all the places we were taken to - they were all very beautiful and interesting.
Great tour to many attractions of Malta! Our guide explained the story very well and gave insights into life in Malta today.
I liked this tour as it packed a lot in but didn’t feel rushed. As with all tours in Malta at the moment, you seem to be battling with other tour groups the whole time. M’dina was especially busy. Lunch wasn’t until 2pm so it was a long wait and there wasn’t really anywhere to buy a snack. The places were all interesting and the guide did her best when competing with a lot of noise nearby. You can’t come to Malta without seeing M’dina and the Mosta dome. Please note for Mosta, ladies with skirts or shorts above the knee will be required to wear a wrap provided by the church. God only has an issue with female legs it seems as the men were not asked to do the same.
This trip took us back into history. The cathedrals and catacombs were magnificent. Lunch was basic, but good enough. Our guide Danielle was knowledgable and her descriptions were enjoyable.
Althea, the tour guide was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The historical information she provided along with the botanical information at San Anton’s garden was very valuable. Althea made the made a very memorable one for us. I would travel with her again to learn more about Malta.
We started with the meeting at the coach, whereby the pick-up from my accommodation worked out well. There we were first driven to the park, but this one was rather unspectacular. Afterwards we went to Mosta and Rabat, visiting an older church (was very nice) and the old town of Mosta (is interesting but very crowded). In addition, we were in the catacombs that you can look at. Lunch was very good. In addition, we were also at the Dingli cliffs, which were beautiful to look at. Overall, a well-planned tour with plenty of free time for your own exploration.
