Ho'okipa Beach Park, meaning "hospitality" in Hawaiian, is one of the most spectacular stops on your Road to Hana adventure, renowned worldwide as the birthplace of modern windsurfing where professional athletes perform incredible aerial maneuvers in consistent trade winds. Located just east of historic Paia town, this stunning crescent beach offers dramatic coastal views and is famous as one of Maui's most reliable locations to observe Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) basking peacefully on the warm golden sand. The combination of world-class windsurfing action, magnificent turtle viewing opportunities, and breathtaking natural beauty makes Ho'okipa Beach Park an essential highlight of any Road to Hana tour, perfectly embodying the natural wonder and adventure spirit that makes this legendary Road to Hana journey so unforgettable.
Along your Road to Hana journey, you'll witness spectacular waterfall walls , creating breathtaking natural displays that showcase Maui's incredible rainfall and tropical beauty. These stunning roadside waterfall features become especially magnificent after heavy rains, when multiple streams transform rock walls into flowing curtains of water that demonstrate the raw power and beauty of Maui's rainforest environment. These impressive waterfall walls along the Road to Hana offer incredible photo opportunities and remind visitors why this legendary coastal drive is considered one of the world's most scenic waterfall adventures.
One of the most breathtaking Maui vacation highlights along your Road to Hana adventure is the stunning Rainbow Eucalyptus forest, where nature creates its own masterpiece through trees with extraordinary multicolored bark that naturally peels to reveal vibrant layers of green, orange, red, purple, and yellow. Located near mile marker 7, this spectacular "Painted Forest" is a must do on Maui photo opportunity that you'll experience right from your vehicle window as we cruise along the Hana Highway, offering incredible roadside views of these Southeast Asian trees that have thrived in Maui's tropical rainforest climate. This stunning bamboo forest displays incredibly dense bamboo growth reaching skyward to form an otherworldly green tunnel, demonstrating how perfectly these plants have adapted to Maui's tropical rainforest climate. As you pass this magnificent bamboo forest along the Road to Hana, you'll experience one of nature's most impressive displays of how constant moisture and rich volcanic soil create perfect conditions for these remarkable bamboo groves to flourish.
The dramatic Keanae Peninsula represents a true Maui vacation highlight and must experience on Maui, where a spectacular half-mile finger of ancient lava extends into the Pacific Ocean, creating one of the most scenic and culturally significant stops along your Road to Hana journey. Further along your journey, you'll encounter the impressive Pua'a Ka'a Falls located at mile marker 22.5 within the lush Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park. Eric was amazing. He shared his expertise related to our journey to Hana with enthusiasm and insight. Eric was very attentive to the needs of our group and made it a point to be flexible .
Kristy was our tour guide. She did an excellent job. She made the 10 hour excursion very enjoyable from the music she played in the van to the stories she told. She was a very skillful driver which was very appreciated considering the curving road. No one our van got sick. YEAH! The farm to table lunch was exceptional. The meat fell off the bone and the hibiscus tea was very enjoyable. I know there are cheaper tours out there but I would highly recommend this tour.
Great tour with a fantastic lunch. I’ve drive the Road to Hana once myself but it was absolutely more enjoyable having a skilled guide drive this time. The ride was very smooth in the Mercedes van. The guide was “choke” full of knowledge she shared along the way. The food at both the banana bread stop and lunch was amazing. & you can tell this is a company who wants to provide a great guest experience and treats their guides well.
This tour is a must for anyone visiting Maui or Hawaii for the first time. Our tour guide Chad was a blast and so knowledgeable about the culture. His connection with the locals gave us opportunities to sample and buy food, art, and jewelry unique to the region. You’ll leave with a breadth of knowledge and love for the land, the people, and the spirit of Aloha!
This was my second time doing the Road to Hana tour, and it was just as amazing as the first! Eric was an incredible tour guide full of energy, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. He went above and beyond to make sure each of us had the best experience possible. The scenery was beautiful and breathtaking. I would definitely recommend this tour, and if you get Eric as your guide, you’re in for a great experience!
Eric was the man!! He was so personable and knowledgeable and made our Road to Hana experience so amazing and unforgettable!! The sights were so beautiful and each stop along the way was more beautiful than the last!! Definitely recommend this tour and Eric as your driver if you going to Maui!!
Kristy was our tour guide and she was very prompt at picking us up from our hotel. The van was very comfortable, spacious, and had blasting AC. They had ample snacks and drinks provided for us throughout the day. She is very knowledgeable and an excellent driver. We all felt super safe! She provided us with so much history and fun facts throughout the day. The highlight was the black sand beach and the farm to table lunch where you got to select your own plate. The food was delicious, We also got to stop for amazing banana bread and could buy our own specialty drinks along the way. It was an awesome day trip, despite the weather being a little extra cloudy. Would definitely recommend. :)
We had an incredible time with our driver and guide Eric during our Road to Hana tour. It took a few minutes into the ride to know we were in good hands for the next several hours. Eric was very friendly and accommodating, and clearly knew what he was doing when it came to driving and maximizing our stops. The car was spacious and air conditioned, and snacks and drinks were provided for us. The lunch that came with the booking was also very good. A few notes for people considering: -We lucked out with the weather, so the day was definitely more enjoyable because of that -If you have motion sickness, this trip is probably not for you. A lot of driving and windy roads during the trip. -Depending on when you get picked up, there is a chance it won't work out that you can sit next to who you come with. This didn't happen for us, but it did for two couples on our trip, so if this would be a problem for you, maybe call in advance to see the likelihood of that happening to you based on pickup time/order. Overall, this was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend Aloha Eco Adventures, and particularly Eric as a tour guide.
We chose a guided tour with just our family of 9 ranging in age 13-70. Eric, our tour guide was excellent. His ongoing narrative was not only informative but entertaining. He has unique knowledge of the area and gave us options as to where to spend more or less time. The farm to table lunch was perfect. This tour allowed us to truly enjoy the experience without the stress of driving ourselves.
