A Perfect Blend of Waterfalls, Coffee & Culture!

Such a fun and unique experience! The hike was beautiful, and the coffee experience was definitely a highlight. I loved learning about the traditional coffee-making process and getting to actually participate in making the coffee. The local food was delicious, and the whole experience felt so authentic and welcoming. Boni was wonderful, knowledgeable, and made sure I had an amazing time from start to finish. Even getting picked up and dropped off in a tuk tuk was such a cool experience! I highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting the Moshi area!

Wonderful experience

I had a really good time on this excursion. The guide Calvin was really professional and helpful, especially with navigating the slippery path near the waterfall. The coffee making part of the outing was fascinating, especially the drumming and singing that accompanied the processing of the coffee. Later, I went on a couple more outings with the same company, with guides Jonathon and Boni, in the Rau Forest Reserve and to Kibosho village and vicinity. They provided a lot of information for understanding the wildlife and local culture. Especially nice was the shot of ginger, garlic, lemon, cinnamon, and honey at the start of the ride to Kibosho to help me recover from my cold.

We’re also very happy that Calvin, Jonathon, and I were able to make your other experiences in Rau Forest and Kibosho memorable and informative. It was a pleasure sharing our local culture, nature, and stories with you. And we’re glad the traditional ginger, garlic, lemon, cinnamon, and honey drink helped you feel better! Amazing Experience at Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour with Bony!

We had a dreamy, phenomenal half-day trip to Materuni Waterfall and the local coffee plantation! The waterfall hike was lovely, the coffee-making experience was an absolute highlight, and the traditional local lunch was generous and delicious. The entire hospitality from start to finish was a total dream. A huge special thanks to our guide, Bony. Bony is smart, kind, super funny, generous, and an amazing storyteller who explained everything so well. He is a truly great guy, and the same goes for his entire team-his amazing friends and family who work alongside him. If you're visiting the region, do not hesitate to book this tour with Bony and his crew. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience

Total change of scenery. 2 parts: Materuni waterfalls, a hike with a walking stick and boots rented because of the terrain, which can be muddy and slippery depending on the weather. Expect about an hour in such conditions. Don't forget the return trip. The falls are very beautiful and the vegetation is very green and lush. Bring cash because there are plenty of artists along the way, and it is important to support them by purchasing their paintings, which, by the way, are all very beautiful and typical. The coffee tour was memorable; we had a delicious local lunch with several dishes, and we prepared our coffee through every step. The group comes to sing and provide entertainment. They filmed with my phone, and the result is professional-grade. Bony is an exceptional guide ❤️❤️❤️. He agreed to come pick us up from far away, which allowed us to go on this outing, and he was a huge help during the hike, taking my phone when necessary and giving me a hand. We experienced a second trip with this authentic experience and the kindness of the whole team. You are fabulous ❤️❤️❤️.

A really enjoyable experience!

I had a great experience on the coffee tour and waterfall trek. The coffee experience was so much fun and Bony, Barako and his team were super friendly and made the experience interactive and entertaining. An Unforgettable Cultural Experience with the Chagga Tribe

I had a spectacular experience with the Chagga Tribe! Learning how coffee is made—from the beans to the final cup—was fascinating, interactive, and so much fun. Boni and his team were incredibly energetic, welcoming, and entertaining, making the entire experience both educational and memorable. This wasn’t just a tour—it was an authentic cultural immersion filled with laughter, music, great coffee, and genuine hospitality. I highly recommend this experience to everyone visiting the area. Beautiful waterfall and people!

My husband and I booked this experience and our guide Bony and driver Steven were amazing. They took care of us all along the way. They had trekking poles for the hike to the waterfall which was beautiful but muddy and slippery. The coffee plantation was organic and the best cup of coffee we have ever had. Everyone was welcoming and friendly! They also served us a delicious local lunch and cleaned our boots while we ate. Would recommend but beware they use a tuk-tuk for transportation and the roads can be very bumpy.

One of the best day trips we ever took

We were picked up by tuktuk at the correct time and taken to Materuni by our friendly driver Steven. The journey there in the tuktuk is an adventure in itself. Once arrived we were welcomed like at home. Then we made coffee coffee in the traditional Chagga way - this was a fantastic experience and the coffee was delicious. Following this we could purchase some local coffee and other products but this didn't feel pushy - we bought a bag of coffee because it really is very good! The lunch was also delicious, healthy and plentiful. We left for the hike with a belly full of food and a heart full of joy. The hike to the waterfall was fantastic, our guide Innocent explained everything from Chagga life and traditions to local plants in great details, and he also spotted some chameleons. We had a fantastic time!!!
