Melaka River Cruise The Melaka River is where the town began and it has played a key role in Melaka's colourful history. Taking a river cruise is like seeing Melaka from the back door. A few decades ago the river was a stinking waterway lined with decaying houses on stilts and the untidy rear side of crumbling shophouses. Yes, there has been a lot of new development but at the same time an effort has been made to preserve many of the historic buildings and bridges along the river. Even the newer buildings have been painted with colourful murals depicting different aspects of Malacca's rich history and culture There are now three jetties, one at each end of the route and one at The Shore. You can begin the cruise from any jetty: Muara Jetty, Taman Rempah Jetty and The Shore Jetty.
St. Peter's Church lt is the oldest functioning Roman Catholic Church in Malaysia (Year 1710) Note- St. Peter's Church is closed every Monday Shorts and sleeveless shirts are not allowed
A Famosa was a Portuguese fortress built in Malacca in 1512. A Famosa, which means 'The Famous' in Portuguese, is one of the oldest surviving European architecture in Asia. The only remnant that history has spared of this once mighty fortress is the tiny gate called the Porta de Santiago.
Originally built in 1521, making it the oldest church building in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It is located at the summit of St. Paul's Hill.
Red Square (Dutch Square): What you will like about Red Square it is the atmosphere like a carnival square where you find many tourists and locals like those from other states of Malaysia, tourists other than Singapore like China, Taiwan even Indonesia, European and American tourists.
Things to see at Red Square : The Stadthuys The Stadhuys is known for its red exterior and nearby red clocktower. It was built by the Dutch in 1650 as the office of the Dutch Governor and Deputy Governor.
Queen Victoria’s Fountain: More than a hundred years old, this fountain is still functioning well and is probably the only functioning colonial water fountains in Malaysia. Queen Victoria surpassed George III as the longest reigning monarch in the history of England and Scotland history.

Malacca Clock Tower The Red Clock Tower, otherwise known as Tan Beng Swee Clock Tower, is a 134-year-old clock tower located in Dutch Square. It is one of the most popular spots for tourists in Melaka. The 50-foot tower was built in 1886 by Tan Jiak Kim, a Peranakan Chinese philanthropist who wanted to fulfill the wishes of his father Tan Beng Swee, who dreamed of a clock tower in the heart of Melaka. Tan Jiak Kim built the clock tower at the Stadthuys building where it would be most prominent.
Jonker Street: The centre street of Chinatown – was once renowned for its antique shops. However over the years it has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as restaurants. The best part of Jonker Street is the night market on Fridays and Saturdays that sells everything from tasty treats to cheap keepsakes. During Lunch time we will bring you for have an Baba Nyonya Lunch. (Nyonya food is a mixture of Chinese and Malay flavors, but also has a flavor that is distinctly unique).

This tour is a rip off. It is listed as Malaka City Tour with River Cruise and Lunch. There was no Malaka City Tour. The driver took us straight from our hotel to the river boat pier. The river cruise went a mile or two up the river then returned to the start for a total of about 30 minutes. There was recorded audio supposedly telling us about the features along the river, but it was inaudible. The cruise was short and relatively useless. After the cruise we walked to the car and the driver took us to lunch at a Malay restaurant. The food was interesting and pretty good. After lunch he took us back to the hotel. The drive to/from Kuala Lumpur was 2 hours each way and we were gone a total of 6 1/2 hours so about 2 1/2 hours in Malaka. The driver was nice and spoke good English, but he seldom spoke and didn’t tell us about anything we passed en route or while in Malaka. Bottom line, we paid almost $300 for a ride to Malaka for lunch, which was not worth half that. It is very disappointing that Viator lists a tour that doesn’t do what the name or description implies, very poor quality control.
