Itinerary
Majdanek Nazi German Concentration and Extermination Camp is located just outside of the city. In Nazi plans it was supposed to be bigger than infamous Auschwitz and become slave labour source for creating new empire on the east. Exceedingly strict conditions in prison are symbolized right at the camp's entrance by impressive monument located in a place of the former front gate. A walk among remains of camp barracks with exhibitions inside, well preserved crematory building or gas chamber and gigantic Mausoleum with ashes of Majdanek victims – all of this fills visitors with sorrow and reflection.
During its golden ages Lublin was a very wealthy city, full with aristocracy impressive palaces, amazing sacral architecture and tenement houses. It was called “Vienna of the North”. Stroll through narrow, cobbled streets of Old Town, picturesquely located on the hill. It allows to almost breath in the history. Majestic buildings from many different ages spread around the area create an unique atmosphere. Without a doubt Lublin is the most beautiful city in east part of Poland and very much worth visiting.

I was so very impressed with this tour from start to finish. My driver/guide, Marcin, was punctual and provided a wealth of information as we drove to and from Treblinka. He is very knowledgeable about history and also present day Poland. I asked quite a few questions and we had lively discussions, which made the long driving time go by effortlessly. The visit to Majdanek itself was exceptional. The preservation, memorialization and commemorative aspects of the site allowed for much learning and deep reflection. It was just the right amount of Marcin’s direction and also self-paced moments. Majdanek is incredibly well preserved and organized effectively for visitors. Thanks to Marcin’s tour, I was able to really walk through the site and learn details directly from him about key aspects of the memorial. I asked him many questions and conversed about what I was seeing and feeling. I especially appreciated how he drove me around the site which was large and could be difficult to walk for certain people. I never felt rushed and he really took the time to make sure that I was getting the exact experience I wanted on this tour. Our return trip was even more impactful as I was able to talk with him about what I observed and asked even more questions, which he fully addressed. The final part of the tour involved seeing parts of Lublin (including old town) and eating perhaps the most delicious fried pierogi I have ever had! I highly recommend this as a private tour to get the full benefits of being guided through a very important and difficult historic space. It’s not just the drive; it’s the personal attention and insider knowledge a tour like this provides every step of the way. A+
Marcin gave us an excellent tour. Not only did he explain the concentration camps but answered all our questions about Poland and WWII. I thought visiting the camps might be overwhelming, but he guided us through this heavy topic in a way that was manageable. The visit to the older part of Lublin afterwards was nice to see and also put the concentration camp into perspective of the Jewish ghetto that was there during WWII. Great overall tour. Thank you!
Martin was terrific. He is very knowledgeable and did a great giving perspective and details concerning Majdanek. Rounding out the day with pierogis in Lublin was an excellent addition.
Marcin was great. So knowledgeable. Great balance of educating and giving us space. shared important perspectives I would not have thought to even ask about. 5 stars!
incredible guidance Martin was amazing and thoughtful showed us and tell story of the place and it was such a strong experience.
We were lucky enough to have Marcin again for our private guide following our trip to Treblinka the day before. We were picked up on time from our hotel in a large SUV and again Marcin answered all our questions on the way. Majdanek is a much busier camp to visit as much of it has remained intact. Marcin escorted us around the camp explaining each part and answering all our questions. He also gave us some time to ourselves for reflection. He then drove us to Lublin and gave us a walking tour of the old city including the castle and the Jewish ghetto before sharing a meal with us at a restaurant in the old town. It was an interesting day and we would like to thank Marcin for providing so much information and making the day run so smoothly. We would not have been able to have done this on our own.
A great tour. Marcin was a very friendly and informative guide, he answered all my questions amd we had great discussions with him. Also the lunch was delicious. Highly recommended.
Fantastic tour our guide/driver was Marcin and all the reviews are correct, he was wonderful! Very informative tour and Marin was fabulous company as well as a guide. Lunch in Lubin was also great and we were able to cater for the fact that I needed a gluten free meal. Would definitely book with this provider and Marcin again if returning to Poland.
Our guide, Martin, had vast knowledge and ability to transmit information in a very interesting and clear way. His ability to maintain solemnity and balance in a hard site to visit, Majdanek Concentration Camp, was impressive and much appreciated. We enjoyed learning history about Poland and Europe, past and present. Truly an extraordinary tour.
I had the privilege of taking a private tour with Marcin Hilgier to Majdanek Concentration Camp and the Old City of Lublin, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Marcin is incredibly knowledgeable and brought deep historical insight, compassion, and sensitivity to a subject that is as painful as it is important. His thoughtful narration made the horrors of the Holocaust feel more real and immediate—tied to the very ground we were walking on. Throughout the tour, Marcin struck the perfect balance between historical detail and personal reflection. I came away with a much deeper understanding and appreciation for the history of this region and the magnitude of what happened there. I would highly recommend this experience—and Marcin in particular—to anyone looking for a meaningful, respectful, and enlightening visit.
