I can’t recommend using CityTours. I purchased 2 tickets online for a 2 day pass in Madrid for my day of travel August 10, 2026. I purchased the tickets online since the company offered a discount for doing so. THIS WAS A MISTAKE! I started searching for a bus stop for City Tours that was close to my hotel. I downloaded the App for CityTours at their recommendation, and I also used the official website to try to navigate. After over an hour of searching and trying to use the official app and website to find the closest bus stop, my travel companion and I were exhausted and lost. The signs for the CityTours stop were not clearly labeled. We ended up missing a planned for tour because we spent so much time looking for where to get on the bus, and after all that we never found it. I did reach out to the company via email to request a refund and was denied because they said their policy was to only issue refunds to up to the day before your travel with them. This would have been impossible for me since I purchased the tickets online the day of. They also stated that I should have used their official App or website to find the bus stop or that I should have called them. I did use BOTH the App and website and they were next to useless. I honestly don’t think calling would have helped since the bus stops were not well indicated with signage. I will give them the credit that at least they did bother to reply to my email. If you do use this company please wait to purchase your tickets until you know that you can find the bus stop you want. But I would recommend going with a different bus company.
The timing on the description of places was substantially off from our physical location. Play attention to the map.
This tickets were purchased this morning And it was an error that I tried to correct immediately, but my credit card account was already charged. I was back and got with Viator expkaining the situación and the told me that julia travels were getting in touch with me to amend the tickets, so far I haven’t heard from any body. it was suppose to be for September 17 and the tickets were printed with August 4, witch was the day I purchase them. The transaction is #1432410979.
The hop on and hop off was okay. There were some delays and long waits with hoping back on the bus. I saw several of another companies bus before one from this company finally arrived. Otherwise it was okay.
We bought the tickets online. The stop locations are not marked. On the website, they indicate that the bus frequency is 35 minutes!! Nothing could be further from the truth; after waiting more than an hour, a bus passed by that did NOT stop at the stop despite being half empty. After calling the contact number and keeping me on hold for more than 5 minutes, they tell me that I must call another number, which also puts me on hold and tells me that I must call a third number where they have the nerve to tell me that depending on the ticket I bought (I purchased the most expensive one) the wait can be longer and that everyone knows about the traffic in Madrid (where we were waiting, there was a city bus stop that was running completely normally). Some of the outlets didn't work, there was no air conditioning downstairs, the itineraries were very weak... In other cities we have taken tours, we have enjoyed them, but this one, without a doubt, has been the worst experience and the best way to ruin a vacation day.
Terrible, you don't know for sure where you stop, when they pass by they don't stop, more than an hour waiting
Very disappointed in this tour, finding the pick up points was like looking for a needle in a haystack! We did part of the antique tour yesterday, the pre-recorded tour guide was difficult to connect with what we were seeing as we drove around. We wanted to try again this morning and were told the average wait time was 20-25 mins (high season) but having waited nearly 40 mins, we gave up. 4 x 33 euros, big waste of money. Wouldn't recommend at all I'm afraid.
We have done hop on hop off bus tours before. This tour had so very little information it was close to being a bus tour. The bus had garbage everywhere and many jacks did not work. My recommendation-try on of the other 2 lines.
A dreadful experience, a long wait for the bus, poor coordination, and very little customer attention. In addition to being very dirty.
The bus stops were incredibly hard to find! Need addresses and a live app would be better! Clearer stops when on bus too.
