Lisbon Food Tour with Portuguese Wine: Taste the Best of Portugal

Description
Discover three of the “seven wonders” of Portuguese cuisine on our award-winning Lisbon Food Tour through the Baixa District, the city’s only flat neighbourhood and a hub of history, flavour, and culture. With everything arranged in advance, you’ll skip the lines and dive straight into authentic tastes as your expert local guide leads you from the Tagus River through grand squares and past landmarks like Igreja de São Domingos, sharing the story of the “new Lisbon” rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. This immersive food tour brings you into taverns, family-run restaurants, and beloved street-food stops. Along the way, you’ll try classic petiscos, savour seafood favourites, and sample iconic bites like the bifana, all paired with drinks such as Vinho Verde, local beer, and Ginjinha. We end on a sweet note with a traditional Portuguese dessert, the perfect finale before heading into the night with your fellow food lovers. Eat like a local and book your Lisbon Food Tour today.

Itinerary
Meet your hosts in front of the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça. They will be holding a yellow "Carpe Diem Tours" sign.
Follow your expert guide through Baixa to a cosy tavern renowned for its flavour-packed Portuguese petiscos. Here, you’ll dig into classics like freshly grilled chouriço and bacalhau à Brás, served with a perfectly paired local wine.
Next, we’ll visit a traditional Portuguese seafood restaurant for grilled sardines and comforting seafood rice. And the best part? You’ll enjoy it all with a refreshing glass of iconic Vinho Verde.
After a sit-down meal, dive into Portuguese street food with the legendary bifana, a tender steak sandwich simmered in garlic and wine. Don’t forget to save room for a crispy coxinha or croqueta, perfectly paired with an ice-cold beer.
We’ll visit a historic liquor shop, established in 1890, to sample Portugal’s beloved Ginjinha, a rich sour cherry liqueur that perfectly primes your palate for the final sweet treat.
No food tour is complete without dessert, finish off with Portugal’s iconic pastel de nata, a flaky, golden custard tart that’s truly one-of-a-kind.

Bruno was great. Very knowledgeable. The food was so good. Planning to go back and try a few restaurants.
Margarita is a brilliant guide she put us all at ease, she gave us a little history tour and also explained the background story to all the dishes. She remembered all our names and made the evening a fun experience. Everybody mixed well with each other and half the group including us went out drinking afterwards. Overall a lovely evening, thank you Margarita.
Great history lesson, wonderful choice of restaurants. Bruno was very animated and created a welcoming convivial atmosphere.
Super engaged tour guide. We visited 5 different places. Very different with each their specialty. Heard also fado song and music. Thank Rodrigos from Brazil
Awesome experience. Rodrigo’s explanation of the history of the foods and his ability to provide context was awesome a. Highly recommend. It didn’t hurt that the food (and drink) was hugely plentiful.
Such an amazing tour! Our guide, Rui, had so much passion for his city and the food. A great storyteller, so personable and made sure we all had an amazing day. All the food stops were delicious and portions were generous. I was excited to try so many local "must eat/drink" food & drinks. I would absolutely do this tour again.
Great night, very informative and lots and lots of food!
Fantastic food with an amazing guide. Rui was funny, charming, and knowledgeable about the history of both the food and the city.
Rui is a fantastic food tour guide! He knows the local food scene incredibly well and has a great sense of where to go for the best and most authentic experiences. I especially appreciated his insights into the different dishes, ingredients, and local traditions. He didn’t just show us places to eat — he helped us understand the food and culture behind them. Everything we tried was delicious, and Rui’s recommendations were spot-on. A wonderful experience and highly recommended!
Had an amazing time with our host Rui! He brought a great energy to the tour. The only issue is if you are a vegetarian this is not a tour for you. I saw on the listing that vegetarian options would be available but I didn’t have a single option the entire tour except for the pastel de nata. Overall was a fun experience, but wish it was more accommodating to different diets.
