Levada do Rei PR18 Scenic Hike in Madeira - Transfer Service

I am traveling alone as a young woman and felt more than comfortable with this transfer. Our driver Fábio was very nice and courteous; he explained the route well to us and offered his help in case anything should come up. He also gave me good tips for the rest of my trip. Immediately afterward, I booked another transfer with Lavadas In and Out. That should answer everything :-)

Flávio had amazing communication and made sure we all knew where to meet up and sent over all the details in advance! He was so knowledgeable about the island and told us so many facts which were incredible to hear!! Would definitely book again when I’m next in Madeira!

It was great. You are picked up directly or very close to the hotel and then brought to the agreed-upon trail. It may be that on the way there, a brief stop is made at another trail to let a few people off. However, that did not take much time. The pickup time is, of course, not the specified trail time from the booking, but is calculated individually by the hotel, for me 8:30. Some parking lots are terribly congested, so it really makes for relaxed travel. You are taken directly to the trail, receive a short briefing, and are then allowed to start. If you have any questions, you can get in touch at any time, and otherwise, you get a veeeery relaxed pickup time.

I have given this review a five star rating. Although our trip wasn’t without its issues, none of it was the fault of Sophia our guide. There was a rally in Madeira on the day we went on this trip which significantly affected our pick up which meant we spent a lot of time waiting around. However, Sophia kept us up-to-date with her progress at all times, in fact, her communication before the trip and during it was excellent and appreciated. She was helpful and friendly. The walk itself was wonderful and the biggest highlight was walking through the waterfall. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lavarda in and out.

The place is very pretty but the service is just a round-trip taxi, zero explanations about the surroundings or the levada from the taxi driver. I was shocked that the car was so small, 7 people in a Citroen C4. It is not very comfortable

Great walk along the Levada mostly through overhanging canopy and along steep overgrown rockface. Gentle, with some uneven ground. Self guided - Vvry simple route. Driver- Andre - was very friendly and helpful and told us a bit about life in Madiera as we travelled the 1 hour from Funchal to the start point.

Our driver Fábio was highly professional and very friendly which made the experience overall great. I would highly recommend Fábio and Levadas In and Out Team for their service. They made pickup and drop off easy and they were easy to reach via message. The hike itself was a very good experience, it was a beautiful walk. I would imagine it would be fine for anyone to achieve.

The PR18 was magnificent!! I loved this walk in nature. Plus, Flavio was super friendly. He took care to explain everything we needed to make this hike even more incredible. I highly recommend.

I booked this activity through Viator and my experience was quite disappointing. The initially marked activity was changed by the company to another route. Although the change was communicated to me, I was never clearly explained that I would complete the walk completely alone, without a guide, without a group and without any accompaniment. Before the activity I even expressed concern about the absence of a guide and sought clarifications. At no time was I told that I would simply be left at the beginning of the journey to carry it out by myself. The situation caused anxiety and a feeling of insecurity, especially because I found myself alone on a journey I did not know, compromising my safety. Regardless of the nature of the service sold, I believe that the communication and management of customer expectations have been far behind what would be expected. I would never hire this service again.
