Itinerary
Built in the end of 1997, the Lagos Zoo was inaugurated on the 16th of November 2000, with the sponsorship of Maria João Abreu and José Raposo. The design of the spaces, the movement of land, planting trees, logs and rocks and extreme care in details according to the species, the Zoo Park Lakes, had the recognition that today enjoys the good animal welfare residents, architectural simplicity and call to reflection. Conservation, education and protection are key principles of Lagos Zoo. Enjoy your day marveling at the colorful birds, monkeys, penguins, reptiles and wide range of wildlife. Visit the small farm where children have the chance to come into close contact with domestic animals.

1 PRM parking space right in front of the Zoo entrance. Great! There were 6 of us with an 18-month-old baby and honestly it was a great experience. We marveled at every encounter with the animals. We arrived at 11:00 AM. The entire path from the entrance to the exit is SHADED 🥰. Great for getting between each animal! My daughter took her stroller and the walker went through very well. There were benches everywhere to be able to sit and enjoy the view close to the animals. We loved it 😍👌
Weak and with few conditions for animals
It is phenomenal and at a good price. The bad thing, the distance because it is in a somewhat remote area. Great variety of animals, although many are birds, even so, they are animals rarely seen in other zoos. The swimming area is very small, but it is very cool to see a penguin swimming next to you.
A lot smaller than I thought it would be. Lots of beautiful birds, turtles, meerkats and tortoise. My grandson enjoy the hippos, crocodiles, snakes and penguins. Two hours took us round so it’s not a full day adventure. Entrance price fair as where cafe prices.
Beautiful park definitely worth it
We had a lovely couple of hours. Nicely laid out. Lovely botanical water areas for the various birds. The monkeys were great fun to watch. A reasonably priced cafe on site. The only disappointment was there were no penguins and no explanation as to why not. There was a nice beach area and a small pool to swim. A very enjoyable few hours 😊
Very warm welcome at the ticket counter (tickets purchased on Tiqets with a discount). Very nice zoo, lush and shaded, clean and well-maintained, with a pool/locker room for swimming near the penguins. Animals/plants never seen elsewhere. Several dining areas and a small Portuguese restaurant before entering the zoo. Caged enclosures but with great proximity to the animals, which are beautiful and healthy. A lovely discovery of about 3 hours, very enjoyable.
Superb zoo with very varied species. I loved the pink flamingos and some wild animals in the park
I think that this zoo deserves a higher rating. It feels like a botanical garden with areas of animals and birds. Great of species and real thinking behind enclosures for monkeys that are separated by water rather than fences. Would highly recommend for a special experience that is less ‘zoo like’ than typical zoo
Took my grandkids ages 11 and 8 to the Lagos Zoo. They enjoyed it. Saw many different animals. A lot of birds No elephants or giraffes. Watching the many monkeys play was pretty cool. Zoo layed out out for easy walking. It is anout a 15 minute ride from the beach resorts by car. We spent about 2 hours there. There a couple places that you can buy feed from a gumball machine to give to the animals. Nice way to spend some time away from the beach.
