Visit former Nazi concentration camps Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II (Birkenau) and see the most popular Salt Mine in the World, both listed on the UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage List. Auschwitz-Birkenau & Wieliczka Salt Mine are situated within a short driving distance from Kraków. We recommend this trip for visitors who want to make the most of their limited time in the city. During this one-day trip, you will get to know the two most relevant sites in the area.

The first part of the visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial is the main camp called Auschwitz I. Over here, the tour takes place with live English commentary through the original buildings and grounds of the former concentration camp. You will be able to hear your guide through a headset.
The former camp Auschwitz II-Birkenau is the second part of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial. Here you will continue your guided tour on the Birkenau grouds.
The Salt Mine is situated in Wieliczka, near Krakow. The visit takes place either after visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau or before that. When booking an English-guided option, there will be a lunch break of up to 1,5 hours in Wieliczka before the Salt Mine Tour.
The trip will end near the Old Town Square in Krakow if you select an option with transportation. If you purchase a door-to-door service by private car, the driver will drop you off at your desired location.

Tours
Really well organised, our driver Stanley was great, got us where we needed to be on time. The only disappointment was out Auschwitz tour guide, he was terrible, couldn't hear him a lot of the time even though people asked him to speak up, he didn't wait for everyone to get in before talking and just spoke in a monotone voice. Salt mine was incredible and our guide was fantastic.

One day in Auschwitz and Salt Mine
Overall we had a great experience with Legendary Krakow. We were initially a bit surprised because they reached out the day before we were meant to arrive in Krakow to let us know the trip couldn’t be done in one day. This was due to the scheduling of tickets. Fortunately we had three days in Krakow so it worked out for us to do a half day at the Salt Mine on the day we arrived and then most of the next day in Auschwitz. I actually felt it worked better to do the two visits separately for timing. It also allows you to process what you see and feel in Auschwitz. Matthew, our driver for Auschwitz was great! He shared some of his own experiences and provided us with great tips for our stay in Krakow.

Positive experience!
Kamil (the driver) was punctual to pick me up at the hotel. The driving was safe. I was very happy with the tour and the tour guide did an amazing job at explaining the Concentration Camps and history in general.

Salt Mines
Great trip and Matthew was a fabulous host/guide/driver - very knowledgeable and interacted well with us. We then had Victoria in the mines who was also really knowledgeable, slight disruption to the headphone service near the end and a very long walk to the lifts!! Overall a great experience - huge thanks to Matthew
