Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is "shore operated lift nets". Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen.

From Fort Kochi to Trivandrum

Excellent service that exceeds expectations
We had Sanil, he was on time, new car, that was very comfortable and clean. He kept us updated when he was arriving and confirmed booking the day before tour. After I bought something at jewellers that had to be resized, he made sure it was delivered to ship later on, even driving the salesmen to the ship to insure we got it. We would recommend Sanil to anyone who wants an excellent driver, comfortable car, and who exceeds your expectations in every way.

Cochin is a great place to visit
Josfeth, our driver was an exceptional tour guide. The city tour is a combination of the old Cochin and the new Cochin. Old Cochin allows you to see how the population lives as well as the buildings dating back to the 1500s influenced by the Portuguese and Dutch. The new Cochin is a sprawling business area with malls and shopping opportunities.

Exceptionally good guide and driver.
Sanil our driver was the best!! He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us about the city. He was also very flexible and took us everywhere we wanted to go and tour. Plus he took us to an excellent restaurant for dinner to get local taste. Sanil went out of his way to assist my 90- year old dad to get off the car every single time. If we come back to Kochi ever again we will contact Sanil 100% and would recommend to anyone and everyone coming too. Very safe driver too.

Great way to explore Kochin on a really good value private tour - first class organisation and guide
Everything about this trip was great. Communication in advance first class. We had all the details of the driver (Joby), the car reg, the WhatsApp number and even a photo sent the night before just in case, but it wasn’t needed as he was waiting with a sign straight after the port exit. We had been provided with a list of all the things we were going to see and were able to edit it to focus solely on the things we wanted to see. One of our party had limited mobility and Joby was great, if he parked away from the attraction we were visiting, he would collect car and come back to pick us up. We visited loads of interesting sights and enjoyed Kochi very much and Joby shared lots of interesting stories and history. Great value way to enjoy Kochi for first time visitors and would definitely recommend

Tour guide Riyas was a great driver.
Very informative tour and our guide spoke very good English. Riyas drive the busy streets and showed us highlight stops. Our late arrival kept us from seeing some other spots. We liked the spice market and can’t wait to try some cooking at home. We were taken to a sales spot which I don’t like but we found a scarf to take home.
