Fantastic time. It was like swimming in an aquarium. Crew was fun, informative and professional. Would definitely recommend. Thanks again.
We had a great trip! We went as a family 6 adults and took our one year old with us. They were very friendly and made sure everyone was safe and had a great time!
We had a great experience it was beautiful weather and there was so much to see on the reef , we saw parrotfish, barracuda, angel fish, sting rays, Blue tang and so many more fish! Ivy our guide for the day was so friendly, helpful and fun. She made us feel safe and they have thought of all the little things to make the experience better. Everything from Vaseline for facial hair to prevent leaks, free cold water, antifog solution for the mask and masks available if you are farsighted and wear glasses. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff. This adventure started with a treasure hunt. We reported to the correct address on the main road and signed waivers. From there we were instructed to drive 3 miles south to a kiosk where we signed in and had rules read to us. Then from there we had to walk to a bridge, up an over canal, behind a hotel, and wait by the dock. The lady at stop 1 reassured my husband not to worry about his recurring leg cramps because the water is very shallow. But once we left the dock we learned nobody is allowed to stand — even in the sand — no matter how shallow. The website said no spray sunscreen allowed on the boat. What they apparently MEANT was do not use spray sunscreen anytime that day; you must use reef-safe sunblock (available for sale through them for $28). Finally, when we asked the lady at stop #2 if we should purchase water bottles before we board she said no — they have plenty of water for you. What she MEANT was there is an Igloo dispenser you can stand in line for on a rocky boat to put 2 oz of water in a disposable paper cone which dissolves after the 2nd or 3rd refill. Don’t show up without your own bottle! The reef is beautiful. But because it is quite shallow there was not a lot of wildlife to see. I saw a few parrot fish and blue tangs.
Thanks for choosing Sundiver. Please allow me to reply to a few issues with your review. The part you compare it to a treasure hunt. The walk from the kiosk to the snorkel boat takes 30 seconds. The boat is literally on the other side of the small canal. Your description makes it sounds like it’s this huge walk around a hotel and over a bridge ? Are you referring to the raised platform at the end of the canal ? It's not really a bridge and you can simply avoid it and just walk across the parking lot and you are there in 30 seconds. I understand your husband was concerned about cramping but we are very clear when checking in that you can't stand anywhere at the reef. I know the check in agent would not have said you can stand. You can get on and off the boat as many times as you want so if someone is getting a cramp they can come back to the boat until the cramp is gone. The reef has been protected since 1963 and this “No Standing” rule was put in place and the reason you were able to visit the reef yesterday was because this rule was put in place to save the reef. Walking on the reef or standing in the sand destroys the coral and the new baby corals that are forming in the sand. Sorry if there was some confusion with this rule. Yes, we provide water onboard for free for everyone. The cups last for a few refills and are biodegradable to help the environment. If your cup starts to fall apart after several refills you can simply grab another cup. There is no limit on the amount of cups you can have so I'm not sure about this complaint. The long line you mention is a new one for me, How long could the line have been ? We don't have that many people on board at a given time to make the line that long, and the rocky boat ? well you are on a boat in the middle of the ocean. We don't force you to buy our sunscreen, you are welcome to bring or use you own. We just ask that it's reef safe. We try our best to save the coral reef for future generations to visit. The reef system is very delicate so there are some rules put in place. Please understand these rules would apply to all private and commercial boats visiting the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. We did not make these rules, we just follow the rules put in place. We appreciate you choosing Sundiver.
Ivy was our lifeguard and she was the best! Very informative but personable! We had a great time!
We had a fantastic experience with Sundiver Snorkel Tours! From check-in at the shop to boarding the boat, everything was organized and welcoming. Debbie, Ivy, and the captain made us feel comfortable from the start. Ivy did an excellent job explaining the safety procedures and how to use the snorkels, fins, masks, and flotation vests. Her instructions were clear, informative, and mixed with just the right amount of humor, which helped everyone relax. The snorkeling itself was wonderful. The reef was full of colorful fish, and the timing was perfect—about a 30-minute boat ride out, roughly an hour in the water, and a relaxing ride back. We especially appreciated having a smaller group of just 13 people on a boat that can accommodate many more, which made the experience feel personal and uncrowded. Thank you to the entire Sundiver team for helping make this a memorable part of our Florida vacation. Highly recommended!
