This was a surprise gift for a best friend’s 65th birthday and there was 4 of us in total. We were excited and had been planning the trip from Biloxi, MS for a while. The day was finally here and we drove to New Orleans. We walked around Jackson square and the RiverWalk. Then it was time to get on the Natchez. We were the first to board the Steamboat Natchez and we had first seating for dinner. So we went straight to the dining room. We sat down at a window to watch us ride up and down the Mississippi River while we ate. The server told us that the buffet was open. So my husband and I went to the buffet and started to get a plate when one of the servers of the meat carving station rudely told us it wasn’t open yet! So we sat down again until we saw others going through the buffet line. We got our food and sat down. Now, My husband was actually born in New Orleans, and we have lived on the MS Gulf coast all our life. We know how local dishes should taste. But we have never been so disappointed in the food. Gumbo, crawfish etouffe, cream spinach, roast beef, green beans, fried chicken, seafood pasta and some kind of cubed potato dish. I know this is going to sound impossible, but it was terrible! All of it! 1st, the gumbo, which I have made many times, served in a very small cup, was a really dark roux, almost burnt. In fact it had a bitter taste. All 4 of us pushed our crawfish etouffe away. It was NOT good. The fried chicken was hard as a rock! The beef was NOT tender and absolutely no flavor! We love fresh cooked green beans but these were stringy and had some kind of seasoning on it that did not taste good. The potato dish was ok. Not a lot of potatoes in it. More than half my plate went back to kitchen. I figured ok, at least let me get my dessert and coffee. Why would I feel any different about that. The bread pudding had good flavor but was very very firm. Not hard, but firm. Till you really had to push in the fork to get through it. That’s not how it should be. Of course, the coffee was absolutely cold. It was really ridiculous!!!! On top of the extremely disappointing dining, we never left the dock the whole time we were eating, so why even get a window seat! Our table was right by the door to get on and off. And while we were sitting there, I watched people getting on and off. Finally, since we had not even left the dock, which really confuses me because it was a Jazz Dinner CRUISE!!! So after this VERY disappointing dinner and the fact that we never left the dock, I asked everyone if they wanted to stay on or get off. All 4 of us voted to get off and go home. So we did. We spent $430 for the dinner cruise and $50 for parking. For nothing!! I will NEVER recommend this experience to anyone and as for us - NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

The steamboat was amazing. First time on a steamboat. The jazz music was great as well as the dinner. The captain was very funny and all of the people who worked were very pleasant .the tickets price was really good. The trip about an 2 hours.. The cruise was sold out alot of people. A nice dinner with Jazz for our anniversary.
