Begin an awe-inspiring 45 km journey through the Maligne Valley and discover why this area is considered one of the most stunning natural wonders of the world. Keep an eye out for iconic Canadian wildlife and take in the serene lakes along the way.
(Alternative Stop): While the waterfalls are currently closed due to the 2024 wildfire, we’ll stop at a scenic overlook along the canyon, where your guide will explain the ecological effects of the fire and how nature is recovering.
Explore the sub-alpine forests and admire the limestone cliffs rising above Medicine Lake. Take a short scenic walk along the shoreline while your guide shares the fascinating natural history of this mysterious disappearing lake.
Arrive at Maligne Lake for a 90-minute scenic boat cruise. Take in the glacial-blue waters, towering mountains, and lush shoreline. Stop at Spirit Island to walk to the famous viewpoint and capture the iconic Canadian Rockies scenery, all while learning about the lake’s human and geological history. After the cruise, enjoy a packed lunch you bring with you or purchase from the Maligne Lake House Café (additional cost) before returning to Jasper.

* Hotel pick-up times vary and will be confirmed upon booking. * If your pick up location is within the immediate Jasper townsite, please be ready 15 minutes prior to departure time. * For outlying properties including Beckers Chalet, Jasper House Bungalows, Tekarra Lodge, Wapiti campground, Whistlers Campground, Patrica Lake Bungalows and Pyramid Lake Lodge, please be ready 30 minutes prior to departure time. * For pick-up from Pine Bungalows please be ready at departure time for pickup between 5-10 minutes after departure time. * For pick-up from Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, please be ready 15 minutes AFTER departure time. * Complimentary pick-up is available from selected accommodations within the Jasper Area. * Pick-up is also available from vacation rentals within the immediate Jasper townsite — To arrange this, please contact us directly . * If your hotel is not listed, please select our Central Meeting Location: the Two Brothers Totem Pole, located across the street from the Jasper Park Information Centre lawn (500 Connaught Drive). All-day parking is available in the adjacent paid public parking lot (behind the washroom building). Parking fees apply and must be paid directly to the parking operator using the posted payment instructions or parking kiosk.

- Important Note regarding Maligne Canyon Waterfalls: Due to damage caused by last summer’s wildfire, access to Maligne Canyon is currently closed by Parks Canada for infrastructure repairs to ensure visitor safety. If these repairs are not completed prior to your selected tour date, the short walk to view waterfalls in Maligne Canyon will not be possible. In this case, the tour will proceed with a slightly altered itinerary, offering alternative stops to showcase the area’s unique beauty. This includes a visit to Maligne Lookout, where you can view the dramatically changed landscape from a high vantage point, and additional time at Medicine Lake, featuring a short walk along the shore for stunning perspectives of the lake surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Please rest assured that the tour length and price remain unchanged, and the overall experience will still provide incredible opportunities to explore and learn about the Maligne Valley’s natural wonders.
- To request complimentary pick-up from your accommodation, please specify which hotel you are staying at. Pickup times vary therefore your exact pick-up time will be confirmed upon booking.
- If you are staying outside of Jasper, please specify Jasper Downtown Location - at Two Brothers Totem Pole across from Parks Canada Information Center on Connaught Drive. Your meeting time will be 15 minutes prior to your trip’s departure time. All-day parking is located in the parking lot.

Kelli was fantastic, she shared so much info. We stopped several times to get out and take pictures and ended up seeing 2 grizzlies, a moose, and a big horn sheep. What wonderful memories. So worth the money
Jake our guide was great. He knew just where and how for us to view wildlife. Separate cruise on Lake Maligne was very scenic.
Excellent adventure! Sam was extremely knowledgeable and shared tons of interesting information. Two grizzlies were spotted right next to the road— amazing! Maligne Lake is beautiful. And we were treated to a moose sighting right near the dock. Highly recommend!
Tour guide on bus, Mulan (sp?) and boat, Sam, were both engaging and very knowledgeable. Pickup was timely and so was the return. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great day. Sam was very knowledgeable about the fire of 2024. We learned a lot about the area and the tragic fire of 2024 and the wildlife..even a sighting of 222 which was the highlight of the day!

Very informative guide called Logan . Wildlife and local history and impact of recent fires. Worked hard to show us a Mouse, Deer and sheep. Gave us a top tip to see Bears which we followed up and saw a mother and two cubs later in the day . Fantastic

This was an amazing tour. Our guide, Sam, was very knowledgeable about the area and we learned a lot about the lakes, rivers, animals and the 2024 fire. The boat ride to Spirit Island was good. It's a special place for sure.
