Itinerary
First, you will experience the most diverse and often the most fun place in the Asian side of the city. You will discover cool graffities, street art festivals and life in Kadıköy on your way. Here you'll learn important facts about Turkish breakfast and try traditional Turkish breakfast dishes and Turkish tea in one of the best places in town.
Then you will try a hand made pide while learning how they are made and you will watch the chefs making pide in front of your eyes. You'll experience our secret delicious dish.
You will learn about the daily life of locals, Turkish Coffee History and about the fascinating history of our food and culture while drinking your Turkish coffee and wine.
You will pass through the local market in Kadıköy, try a very old traditional Turkish food called Lahmacun and learn about the history of this dish and why important by the locals.
You will walk through the antique street, discover umbrella street and bar street, and learn about the bar culture in Kadıköy. You'll get lost like locals in the backstreets of the city. You will discover the main street with the tram and the famous meeting point of Kadıköy.

I booked this Secret Food Tour in Istanbul for 2 friends and myself based on online reviews and ratings. The tour did NOT disappoint. From the first interaction with our guide, Jeremy, to the end of the tour, we were “fed” not only delicious food, but also cultural and historical facts. Jeremy took us throughout the Kadikoy neighborhood where we had tastings that exceeded our expectations in terms of quantity and quality. The Menemen, pide, and baklava stand out in my mind as I write this review. We had been in this neighborhood for 4 days but every stop was a new adventure to a place we had not visited. Jeremy explained the history behind the various food selections and made sure we observed the food preparation at several stops. In short, he made each stop not only a place to eat but also a place to learn about how this delicious food is made. In summary, I have only one regret. I wish we had scheduled this tour on day one (instead of our last day) of our stay in Istanbul. We would have been more informed as we made decisions about restaurant and food selections. I highly recommend Secret Food Tours….and ask for Jeremy!

This was such a cool way to explore the Anatolian side of Istanbul! Jeremy took us to places I know we never could have discovered on our own. There was a lovely range from simple to fancy foods/locations, and we learned a lot. Interacting with a friendly local was great. Melis was absolutely amazing. She had great knowledge of all the spots we visited and kept me fascinated the whole time. There was plenty of food and drink, so much that I had to take some back to the hotel for dinner, but she was also able to recommend a variety of other spots to try during my visit. Melis greeted us with her warm smile and shared with us many stories to accompany our delicious tastings. We discovered a new part of the city( Kadikoy on the Asian side) which is a food and drink destination. Our favourite stop was midway when we sat in the sunshine at a gorgeous wine bar courtyard and tasted wine and Turkish coffee. Melis taught us how to read the coffee grinds and the shared historical and cultural significance of coffee in Turkiye. This tour is a must for everyone who loves tasting local foods, seeing the sights and learning the culture with a local!
