Semih is an outstanding guide with a great company!

Semih was an amazing guide- knowledgeable, professional, and ever so personable and fun! My friend and I asked endless questions about history, the city, and anything else we were curious about and Semih knew the answers! Our pickups were on time, drivers were great, but the tours themselves were absolutely fantastic! My friend and I are already planning another trip to Turkey! I cannot recommend Semih highly enough! I would recommend him to anyone who wants to fall in love with Istanbul / Turkey! I will definitely consult him first my next trip to Turkey!

Amazing Guides, Amazing Memories!

We had an incredible experience with Semih and Derya during our time in Cappadocia and Istanbul. Both of our guides were outstanding—knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely fun to spend time with. They brought each location to life with rich history, local insights, and stories we never would have discovered on our own. We felt well taken care of every step of the way, from navigating busy sites to making sure we experienced the highlights without feeling rushed. In a relatively short amount of time, we were able to see so many amazing places and truly get a “taste” of Turkey. It struck the perfect balance between structured touring and enjoying the moment. If you’re looking for a seamless, informative, and enjoyable experience, I would absolutely recommend this team. They made our trip memorable in all the right ways.

A fantastic guided tour of Istanbul

My daughter and I booked Duygu for a private tour of Istanbul and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect guide. She gave us a very special day seeing the most iconic sites- Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Blue Mosque, and lots of shopping. She took us to her favorite places in the Old Town which was so helpful. Otherwise the grand bazaar would have been completely overwhelming! We feel like we made a fried with Duygu and hope see her again in the future.

Ask for Semih (Sammy)

Tours by Locals assigned guide Semih Gümüsay for our 3-day guided tour of Istanbul. He picked us up at our hotel on each day punctually and took us to many famous and not so famous (but mighty interesting) attractions by bus, tram and boat. He was wonderful - knowledgeable, proud of his country and speaking very good English. We felt safe and well cared for at all times.

All the essentials in a day

Hamide was great! She was able to plan our visits so that we essentially did not have to wait in queues at all. In addition to helping us to focus on the most relevant parts (there is so much to see), she told us about everyday life in Istanbul. And we got great recommendations about restaurants.

Very knowledgeable, warm and friendly

Emel, totally customized our tour in advance and was able to adjust to our changing interests. Totally flexible. We saw what we wanted to see and experienced what we had hoped in a short period of time. She was extremely considerate of my physical limitations and took lots of shortcuts to minimize walking. She was very adept at telling the story of Turkish culture with a western perspective for us to readily absorb the info. She knew all the right shopping spots away from the heavily touristed areas. Can’t say enough about the quality of the tour.

Emre was an excellent guide. We started with the most visited sites in the morning and the afternoon activities were specific to our interests. The visits were scheduled such that we did not waste time standing in long lines.

One of our best guided experiences

Duygu was such a wonderful guide. My wife and I immediately had a great connection and felt like we were long time friends. Her knowledge of the area was great but what made it even more meaningful was her ability to weave in personal experiences as well her knowledge of other businesses that we were introduced to. Lunch with her was a highlight!

Amazing Istanbul

We had a wonderful 2 day introduction to Istanbul. Our guide was amazing and very personal. He took us to all the major sites and to places we would never have found on our own. He was so knowledgeable about Istanbul and its history and you could tell he loved his country. This 2 day tour was one of the best tours of our 3 week filled vacation. Thank you very much Mehmet for a once in a lifetime experience. Mike & Mary
