Itinerary
Our first stop is Cawdor Castle and its a-maze-ing gardens. Don't get lost now we need you back on board for the rest of the tour. If Cawdor is not open early April this will be substituted with Urquhart Castle.
Dare you touch the stones? We are not covered by insurance if you head back in time to 1746.
Oh Jamie, oh Jamie our scottish bonnie laddie. See were the Jacobites lost the battle in April 1746.
We leave for Loch Ness for a bit of Nessie spotting.
How about a visit to the Hielan Coo's. Here we visit Katie-Morag and Jamie and their friends the Alpaca's . A visit to the farm shop for all things Coo related is a must. If timings are tight on Cruise ship day or delays we will visit different Highland Cows.

An excellent experience! Greatly enjoyed the Cairns, Cawdor, Culloden and the trip around Loch Ness and across the Black Isle. Packed a lot into seven hours! Lorraine was a great driver/guide; knowledgeable, friendly, great sense of humour. A local who obviously loves her home. Group size was great (8 of us) and the pace of the tour was good. Reasonable price for an enjoyable day, even the weather cooperated.
Lorraine was fabulous, she was a most exceptional guide and driver from her extensive knowledge as she is from here and her knowledge of the roads in case bridge closed to her hospitality! She really cares that you see all you want to see and all is good! I loved the Cairns and getting the photo op and hearing the stories and also what happens there now. The Cawdor Castle and its history is something to see. The Gardens are beautiful. And a lovely Woolen shop just outside and plenty of rest rooms. The Culloden Battlefield was great to see and to know the real story. We just chose to do the Battlefield and not the museum there. The farm stop to see the Highland cows was perfect! They are so cute and Lorraine got their food so they came right to you! And a cute little shop there also! And a restroom break at the Old School had a wonderful shopping opportunity. Loch Ness was beautiful even though we had seen before and no Nessie sighting! And seeing the mountain in bloom with Heather coming back was an added treat for me! Interesting she also told me about our clan Campbell!
Lorain was so knowledgeable and made sure everyone had chances for questions. Which can be tough with groups who are not all together. Between history and clan information I felt like I had learned much about Scotland
We had a fantastic day with Avril—truly the best day of our vacation! She was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide, and we especially loved the early admission to Cawdor Castle, where we practically had the castle to ourselves. An unforgettable experience and an excursion we highly recommend!
We had the best time on this tour! Lorraine got us everywhere fast with so much to see. We loved her commentary and she was fun…especially when an older man got out of his car to yell at people lol If we are ever back in this area, we’ll definitely take another tour with them!
Richard was our tour guide and pick up was from our port in Invergordon. There were seven of us on this tour. Cawdor Castle and gardens are absolutely stunning. All the sites, history and stories Richard shared were incredible. Everyone on our tour would have preferred lunch and drinks in Beauly which was welcoming! Thanks for a great tour from our ship!
Great tour and our guide/driver was excellent Guide gave us lots of history of our tour stops and learned a lot of new information we didn’t know
We had such an amazing time on this tour. It was everything we had hoped it would be and Lorraine our tour guide was absolutely terrific. Highly recommend this tour!
The tour lady was very kind and informative about Scotland. I would do it again if I can. I really enjoyed the day, I didn’t have to run around like a crazy person to get to see everything at one port. She made it easy and possible. Don’t buy tickets for the battlefield. It is free.
This tour was fantastic! We had a wonderful day travelling the countryside with Lorraine who was so knowledgeable and a heck of a good driver who kept us ahead of the big bus tours all day. I highly recommend this tour and Avril's Travels. I really appreciated all the beforehand information of where to meet (look for the rainbow umbrella) and other important details. Everything was just super! Thank you for such a special day in Scotland.
