We had an amazing time in the Glacier, it was wonderful experience big thank to our tour guide Mr. Valantino. He help us understand more about the Glacier and the history of the place.
Loved this experience. Guillermo, our guide for the day, did an amazing job helping us understand how the glacier was evolving, and the impact those changes have on the surroundings. It was a little over 2 miles, or just over 3km of hiking. Not too strenuous, as our group had a 10 year old in it, who did great.
Thank you! We love that your whole group — 10-year-old included — enjoyed the hike. Guillermo's passion for the glacier's story is contagious, and we'll let him know you appreciated it. Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
Really nice guide. Laid back experience. Cool ice cave. Beautiful views.
Thank you! Laid back on the surface, serious about safety underneath — that's how we like it. So glad you enjoyed the cave and the views! Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
The guide (Guillermo) was very careful with his clients. We were able to visit unusual places within the glacier. Excursion highly recommended.
Merci beaucoup ! Guillermo sera ravi de lire ces mots — la sécurité et les lieux insolites, c'est exactement sa spécialité. Au plaisir de vous revoir sur le glacier ! Bien cordialement, l'équipe Ice Explorers
Once in a lifetime! The glacier hike was an extraordinary and unique experience. Starting from the transport with the super jeep to the entry onto the glacier as well as the entire tour itself. Our guide Marica was fantastic. We felt safe at all times. She explained a lot about the glacier and showed us many small ice caves. It was a great experience!! Thank you!😊
Vielen herzlichen Dank, Sebastian! 'Once in a lifetime' — genau das wollen wir erreichen. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass ihr euch mit Marica jederzeit sicher gefühlt habt und die kleinen Eishöhlen entdecken konntet. Herzliche Grüße, das Ice Explorers Team
Outstanding experience from the get go, even in the inclement weather. We had Angelique (Angel) as our guide and she was fantastic — knowledgeable, helpful, engaging with stories and instruction. Important point we learned: Not all guide companies are required to be licensed. But because we were hiking on part of a national park, it is required. That was reassuring.
Thank you, Bill! Angel will be so happy to hear this. And yes — guiding on the national park side of the glacier requires proper licensing, and we're proud to meet that standard. Glad the weather didn't dampen the adventure! Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
Valentin and Flos were excellent guides. We felt safe and had a great time. The cave was filled with beautiful blues and amazing formations.
Thank you, Victoria! Those blues really are something else. Valentin and Floris will be delighted you felt safe and had a great time. Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
Fantastic experience! Our two guides were outstanding — personable, safety‑conscious and genuinely attentive to each person’s comfort throughout the tour. They made the glacier walk and ice cave feel both exciting and completely manageable. The pacing was ideal for mixed fitness levels, with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed. A perfect way to experience Vatnajökull and learn about glaciers and ice caves in general.
Thank you, Carla! Pacing the walk so everyone can enjoy it — without ever feeling rushed — is something our guides work hard at, so this review means a lot. Come explore Vatnajökull with us again! Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
Excellent tour of hiking the glacier (about a mile or so). Beautiful ice cave, guides offered to take photos and gave us plenty of time and space. Would recommend!
Thank you! Plenty of time, plenty of space, and a beautiful cave — that's the recipe. Glad our guides could capture some photos for you too! Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
The tour was amazing and the guides were very knowledgeable. Not a "walking" tour, this is a strenous activity. The cave views and being able to say you hiked the glacier at the end of the day are worth it. Small group tour, only about 10 people on ours. Laid back but safety and experience focused. Best for athletic/in-shape persons with no/few limitations.
Thank you, Josh — and thanks for setting expectations honestly for future hikers: it is a proper adventure, not a stroll! Small groups, safety first, and those cave views as the reward. Kind regards, The Ice Explorers team
