Amazing experience climbing 3 mountains 🤩

I came to Bolivia specifically to climb my first 6000 meter. After a lot of research on multiple different companies I decided to go with Bolivian Mountaineering. It did not disappoint! Look no further. You need to book with Bolivian Mountaineering! Pedro is top notch and very profesional. We did Pico de Austria and Huayna Potosi with Ovi. He was amazing! 🤩 He is a very good instructor out on the ice. He also saved me twice when I almost slid on Huayna Potosi. 😰 For Parinacota we went with Jose. He was so patient with us. And I never felt rushed with him, despite us ending later than expected. I felt safe, and taken care of the entire time I was with Bolivian mountaineering. Thank you Pedro for making our experience in Bolivia such an amazing memorable one! 🫶🏽🤩

The best mountain guide service in Bolivia

I recently traveled to Bolivia with the idea of climbing several of its peaks over 6,000 meters. Among the many options I found online, Bolivian Mountaineering, led by Pedro, was one that caught my attention the most, especially because of the very good experiences that other travelers shared. I finally chose the July expedition with Bolivian Mountaineering to attempt Huayna Potosí and Illimani, and the choice could not have been better. Long before the trip, Pedro was always available to answer all my questions. He guided me regarding the expedition, the equipment I should bring, and the necessary preparation, but he was also kind enough to advise me on much more everyday things, such as what to do during my first days in La Paz or how to better organize my acclimatization. Having that contact and that willingness even before arriving in Bolivia gave me a lot of peace of mind and confidence. Once there, the experience was even better. The entire team was always very kind, professional, and approachable. The treatment is very familiar, and you quickly feel like part of them. You can tell that they enjoy what they do and that they know the mountains very well, but also that they sincerely care about the people they are accompanying. I completed the first part of the itinerary, with several days of acclimatization and the ascent of Huayna Potosí, and subsequently continued with the expedition to Illimani. I especially liked how the program was organized, gradually increasing the altitude and the difficulty, so that the acclimatization was as progressive as possible. Each mountain ended up being a different and very special experience. The guides (Sabino, Pablo, Jose, and Froi) demonstrated a lot of experience, patience, and willingness to help at all times, always giving their best so that we would enjoy every day. Special thanks to Luz for having taken care of all our meals. I am left with very good memories of the mountains, but also of the people with whom I shared those days. Without a doubt, I hope to return next year to continue getting to know and climbing other summits in Bolivia together with Bolivian Mountaineering. Many thanks to Pedro, Sabino, and the whole team for the treatment, the trust, and for making this trip an experience that I will remember for a long time.

Excellent experience

Bolivian mountaineering is a family business and it shows. They really care about their customers. I asked for a custom trip and they made it work! They were easy to work with via email and WhatsApp. Pedro is easy to communicate with and met with us the night before to ensure all equipment was in working order. Our guide Jose was fantastic and kept our spirits up during 3 tough days. Combined with a team of cooks and porters, they’re the complete package!

Dismal customer service and sales.

I was interested in Huayna Potosí tour, I was asking questions and they bothered to ask for information about the service and cancellations. they were rude and no longer wanted to provide me the service.

The best guide company in Bolivia? Yes.

Bolivian Mountaineering was the best company I could have gone with. The guides and team (Jose, Elio, and Edwin) were the best! Extremely experienced and a joy to be around. Being in a smaller group made the entire trip more enjoyable and unique, allowing us to set our own pace and enjoy the mountain. Could not recommend this company any more!

The best mountaineering company in all of South America!!!

5 stars are not enough to describe my experience with Bolivian Mountaineering! I did a 4-day expedition to Pequeno Alpamayo followed by summiting Huayna Potosi, end of December 2025. My guide Elio, as well as José, and Edvin did and outstanding job, I can highly recommend! If you are looking for a company that takes mountaineering serious, prioritizes your safety, and has guides with incredible experience in the mountains, look no further. This is the place.

Incredibly supportive team and stunning views!

Bolivian Mountaineering created an exceptional experience for our family. While we were acclimatizing, BM’s tour guides provided a city tour of La Paz with lots of local knowledge then a tour of Tiwanaku by an amazing guide named Mabel who kept herself abreast of the evolving understanding of the cultures in the area as more research is conducted. Then we went to Copacabana and had a boat ride to Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna, where we hiked and explored the beautiful islands and again learned from Mabel about these historic sites. BM’s owner, Pedro, nimbly adapted our itinerary and supported when one of us became ill so that there could be recovery before the higher altitude. Finally, we set off for Huayna Potosi’s base camp, had fun practicing glacier skills and trying ice climbing for the first time. Our guides, Jose and Elio were phenomenal with their knowledge of the mountain and its communities. With their excellent guiding, we were able to make it to the summit, an unforgettable moment. Other BM team members also made our experience on the mountain enjoyable, including our chef who kept us well-nourished and the porters who transported food and gear from base to high camp. What we also valued about BM was the social impact arm of the organization, supporting local communities, especially women with a portion of their proceeds. If you are heading to Bolivia, please consider BM for cultural tours and/or mountaineering expeditions!

Wonderful experience, trusted and experience guide service

Wonderful experience with Pedro and his team, from the first contact in the fall of 2024 and the planning of the two-week adventure. Mabel was a knowledgeable cultural guide, and provided plenty of insights during days spent in La Paz, El Alto, Tiwanaku and Lago Titicaca. Pedro is an extremely experienced and seasoned guide, which allowed for flexibility on planning and itinerary. Shout-out also to Ed, cook and organizer extra-ordinaire. We are highly recommending Pedro and his team, and thank everyone for the memories.

Top quality mountain guiding for Huayna Potosi

Climbed Huayna Potosi via the Normal Route over 3 days with Bolivian Mountaineering. The whole trip was very well organised. We were well supported by our porter, 'Speedy Rosario', and our cook, Gabi, who prepared great meals for us at both the Base Camp and High Camp huts. Jose, my guide, was excellent, very experienced, professional, skilled, safe and good company throughout the trip. Overall, Bolivian Mountaineering provided a really great experience and I'd highly recommend them if you want a top quality company for your Huayna Potosi climb.

Highly Recommend - 100% Success on Three Peaks of Bolivia

I 100% would return and use Bolivian Mountaineering again and I highly recommend this specific company! Their many years of experience, countless times on all of the mountains in Bolivia and beyond, personal expeditions adding to their experience, makes me want to come back soon to do more technical objectives with them. I truly trust their experience and knowledge. Their leadership in the mountains to even other companies in the area, shows Bolivian Mountaineering's difference which makes them the best in the country. I had nine days in Bolivia and they sorted a custom itinerary. We successfully summited 1. Huayna Potosi 6,088 meters (19,974'), 2. Volcan Parinacota 6,348 meters (20,822 feet) with a ski descent down, and 3. Nevado Sajam 6,542 meters (21,458 feet) with this company. They coordinated airport logistics, acclimatization hikes, including Charquini 5,392 meters (17,690 feet), all the food, water, lodging, driving, boot rentals, and fun (like exploring La Paz). They even took amazing pictures/video and even got a few drone pictures/videos which was above and beyond of them. Most importantly, I felt safe (female traveling solo), taken care of with thoughtful weather and acclimatization considerations, I felt listened to, part of the planning, and at ease the whole time. Huge 'thank you' to Pedro, his family, the company, Pepe, and all the great people we met along the way. Bolivian Mountaineering is trustworthy, experienced, excellent value for the cost, and my trip was better than expected. *I have also climbed in Ecuador and Nepal. Can't recommend them enough!
