Hike tamanique falls and visit El tunco beach from San Salvador

Embark on an unforgettable adventure exploring some of the most popular beach destinations in El Salvador, located in La Libertad. Your first stop will be the charming village of Tamanique, where you’ll begin a 4-mile (round trip) hike to the breathtaking Tamanique Waterfalls. The trail includes descending stairs from the mountains to the canyon, requiring moderate physical effort and appropriate footwear. Once there, you’ll discover three stunning waterfalls, each with natural pools of refreshing cold water—perfect for a swim in the heart of nature. After this jungle adventure, we’ll head to El Tunco, one of the most iconic villages in Surf City. Here, you’ll have free time to walk around, soak up the surf culture, explore local shops and restaurants, or simply enjoy the scenic coastline. Please note that during high tide, the sandy beach may temporarily disappear, making swimming conditions variable. At 2:30 p.m., we’ll begin our return journey.

Playa El Tunco has nice beach, if you are a beach lover or like to swimming or surfing, this is a place to visit if you are in El Salvador
Your day begins with a walking in nature to Tamanique falls, walk between the mountains of the south of El Salvador, the walk is about 6 miles in total, does requiered some effort, you will have some time to enjoy the bath and after we continue to El tunco where you will have free time to explore the area or perhaps take a surf lesson. Depart is at 745am and return from the beach at 2pm.

We took a half day tour to El Zunzal and el Tunco from San Salvador. It was a hot day and our only day to visit the beautiful beaches. The walk on the rocky beach was tiring but thankfully inter tours had a really nice hotel with a pool and facilities that we could use, which will be exactly what you need given the beach conditions - rocky and no beds by the beach. The best part about our tour was definetly our guide, Francisco! Very genuine and professional. Would definetly reccommend, thank you Francisco and Dina 🙏🏻
