The trip to Hierve el Agua with Paul was fantastic! He was friendly and knowledgeable, bring swim stuff , water shoes and towel to enjoy a dip in the pools after the hike. Thank you Paul for helping us make amazing memories!
Paul (fluent English) is an incredible guide - expert about the mineral life/composition of the area, plant life, and villages we passed on the way. But what stood out was his kindness and genuine attentiveness, showing concern and guiding slower participants. Leaving early meant we beat the crowds; we did not run into any other visitors on our way down the falls. The pools are amazing and cool photo ops. Highly recommend all around.
An intimate-style excursion. Paul, a great guide and driver, takes us aboard his 8-seater car for a 1.5-hour ride to Hierve el Agua. On the way, he gives us explanations about the villages we pass through, about mezcal, and about the reality of Hierve el Agua. We arrive among the first at 9:00 AM. We can therefore enjoy the site and the explanations from Paul accompanied by a local guide (Luis in my case) in peace. We learn so much about the site, about the petrified waterfalls, about the trees and plants, about the stones, and about the local population while walking on the paths leading to the waterfalls. Then we can swim in the artificial pools with a view of the cliffs, then we finish with a small local restaurant (not included in the price). Hierve el Agua is a natural site that is a must-see! PS wear your walking shoes, it goes up and down. And if Paul recommends restaurants or places to visit, listen to him, he knows the good spots!
This was such a good tour! Our guide Paul was amazing. Highly recommend.
It was a great trip to Hierve el agua. Paul as a guide is such a nice dude who makes you feel welcome from the get go. He is never tired of explaining things to you and has great recommendations beyond the trip. I can only highly recommend this trip with Paul
We had a fantastic day visiting Hierve el Agua with Paul as our guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared so much about the history, culture, and local area throughout the trip. The day was well organised, relaxed, and enjoyable. We learned so much and would highly recommend Paul - thank you for such a memorable experience!
I had a confirmed reservation for this tour, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. The tour was cancelled the night before, leaving me with very limited time to reorganize my plans in Oaxaca. I understand that unexpected situations can happen, but the way this was handled was not acceptable. Viator processed a full refund, but the refund does not change the fact that I lost valuable travel time and had to rearrange my plans at the last minute. My review is based on the overall handling of the situation: confirmed booking, last-minute cancellation, and the lack of a clear alternative solution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this operator.
We had a fabulous day with Paul touring Hierve el Agua. The scenery was beautiful and we especially loved swimming in the pools after a bit arduous and hot hike. Overall, Paul took good care of us and made sure we had enough time to enjoy the pools and lunch.
The excursion to Hierve el Agua was quite entertaining and refreshing. If you are thinking of taking a short but productive tour, this is it. Our guide was very kind and explained everything; he was also punctual with the schedules. It is very important to heed the recommendations about comfortable shoes and sun protection, as there is no shade and you walk on trails. The local guide was also kind; he offered to take our photographs at key points. At the end, they have a food area that is quite accessible and varied, as well as clothing and souvenirs.
Unique natural wonder. Wonderful fresh pools. Paul was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Unforgettable scenery
