Itinerary
Located on a small island in the middle of West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, dating back over 1,500 years. Explore the peaceful surroundings and learn about the history and significance of this ancient site.
The tour guide will take you to walk across the front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to take photos and learn about his history. We do not enter the Mausoleum, as the queue can take approximately 1.5 hours. After that, you may visit the One Pillar Pagoda if you wish.
Experience the unique sight of Train Street, where trains pass just inches away from the homes and businesses lining the tracks. Witness the daily life of the locals who live and work here and enjoy a coffee at one of the nearby cafes.
Explore Hanoi's largest indoor market, where you can find everything from fresh produce and local delicacies to clothing and souvenirs. Take your time to shop and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling market.
Hanoi Opera House – A French Colonial Architectural Gem Built by the French between 1901 and 1911, the Hanoi Opera House is one of the most iconic colonial buildings in Vietnam.
Long Bien Bridge – A Living Symbol of Hanoi Built by the French from 1899–1902, Long Bien Bridge was once among the longest bridges in the world. During the Vietnam War, it was bombed 14 times but rebuilt every time, becoming a powerful symbol of Hanoi’s resilience. Today, walking on the bridge offers stunning views of the Red River and a unique glimpse into local life—just minutes from the Old Quarter.
Start your tour with a visit to the stunning St. Joseph’s Cathedral, a prominent French colonial-era landmark.
Visit the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" (Hoa Lo Prison), a former French colonial prison that later housed American POWs during the Vietnam War.
Hoan Kiem Lake, known as the heart of Hanoi, is an important historical landmark. It is also called Sword Lake or Luc Thuy Lake. The name “Hoan Kiem” comes from the legend of King Le Loi returning the magical sword to the Golden Turtle after defeating the Ming invaders. The lake is famous for its peaceful scenery, green surroundings, and iconic structures such as Turtle Tower, The Huc Bridge, and Ngoc Son Temple.

This was a great layover experience for our family of 5. Seamless airport pickup and drop off. Our tour guide, Max, was so friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see several sights. Max took us for great food too! Great tour and great value.
We did a tour in the afternoon with James and he was an incredible tour guide! Very knowledgeable about the city and super friendly. He is an amazing photographer and got such good pictures of our group! The tour was really fun and we got to see a lot of the city that we wouldn’t have seen on our own.
Our tour guide was Max and he was wonderful - showing us around the highlights of Hanoi and explaining the history of the city, the country and the places we visited. We had a fun morning and enjoyed spending time with him. We had a great driver who made it easy for us to see lots of places in one morning and to jump in and out of an air conditioned car. The prison was fascinating albeit horrific to learn about the last of the building. We saw beautiful art, temples, had a drink in grain street while the train past by and visited the huge market. Max is lovely and we would not hesitate to recommend this tour.
We did the Hanoi City Tour: Private Half-day Customised with Train Street. It was fantastic. Peter our guide spoke excellent English and was incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with real insight to the attractions as well as some personal stories that added context. He was most helpful and considerate as it was a particularly warm day. The Hoa Lo Prison was a fascinating look into the past. Train Street was a truly awesome experience, we had front row seats and the Iced Coconut coffee (Peter’s suggestion) was absolutely delicious. St Joseph’s Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and Pagodas were all impressive sights. The driver of our car was very professional and took good care of us, and the air conditioning certainly appreciated. This tour was one of the best highlights of our Vietnam holiday and we very highly recommend Peter and his tour. Thank you very much indeed, Tim & Sue Kotlar
