The Baixa de Lisboa, also known as Baixa Pombalina, is the heart of the city and one of its most iconic neighborhoods. After the earthquake of 1755, it was completely rebuilt with an innovative urban plan, led by the Marquis de Pombal. The streets are wide, straight and organized in the form of a grid, surrounded by buildings with neoclassical architecture. During the tuk-tuk tour, you will be able to admire places like the Rossio, with its famous cafes and wavewalk, the Piazza da Figueira and the grandiose Piazza do Comércio, facing the Tejo River. This area is ideal for feeling the true spirit of Lisbon – between monuments, historic facades, traditional shops and the lively life of the streets. It is also here that many Lisbonais and visitors cross daily. The Baixa is the perfect starting point to get to know the city, with fascinating stories, unique landscapes and an energy that blends tradition and modernity.

Pass by

The Lisbon Cathedral, also known as the Church of Santa Maria Maior, is the oldest cathedral in the city, built in the 12th century after the reconquest of Lisbon by the Moors. With its imposing Romanesque-style facade and its two fortified towers, it is one of the most remarkable monuments of the capital. Over the centuries, the See was being modified and restored, gaining elements of Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical style. He survived several earthquakes, including the devastating 1755 earthquake, remaining a symbol of faith and resistance. In its interior, the central ship, the altar-mor and the cloister stand out, where archaeological vestiges from earlier eras, including Roman and Visigothic, were discovered. Visiting the Se is to immerse yourself in the history of Lisbon and feel the spirituality that travels through centuries. An essential point on any city tour.

Pass by

The Miradouro das Portas do Sol is one of the most iconic of Lisbon, offering stunning views over the roofs of Alfama, the Tejo River and monuments such as the National Pantheon and the Church of St. Vincent de Fora. Situated by the old city walls, this viewpoint owes its name to the ancient gates of the Moorish fence that existed there. It is an ideal place to relax, take photos and appreciate the unique light of Lisbon, especially at sunrise. With a very popular terrace and statues like that of St. Vincent, patron of the city, the space combines history, beauty and a vibrant atmosphere. It is also a passage point for many tuk tuks, electric cars and tourists who explore the Alfama neighborhood. Stopping here is more than admiring the landscape – it’s feeling the soul of Lisbon. A perfect place to enjoy the city with calm and charm, always with the Tagus on the horizon.

10 min

The Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is one of the tallest and most impressive in Lisbon, located in the Graça neighborhood. Situated next to the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Monte, patron of the pregnant women, it offers one of the city's widest views: from the Castle of St. George to the Tejo, passing the Baixa, Avenida da Liberdade and to the Bridge 25 de Abril. Less busy than other viewpoints, it provides a calm and contemplative environment, ideal for those seeking a moment of tranquility with a breathtaking landscape. The chapel and viewpoint also have a strong spiritual significance for many Lisboetas. It is a perfect place to take photos, see the sunset or simply appreciate the unique beauty of Lisbon viewed from above. Stopping here on a tuk tuk tour is discovering a serene Lisbon with authenticity and charm.

Pass by

The Church of St. Vincent de Fora is one of the most important monuments in Lisbon. The name “Fora” is due to its location outside the old city walls. Originally there was a simpler church here, dedicated to St. Vincent, patron of Lisbon. In the 17th century, during the reign of D. Philip I, the current church and monastery were built, in a grandiose work in the style of manier and baroque. The imposing facade anticipates an interior decorated with Portuguese marbles and tiles from the 17th and 18th centuries. The monastery holds the tombs of the Bragança dynasty, including several kings and queens. The claustro is highlighted, with tiled panels illustrating La Fontaine fables. From the terrace, you have a magnificent view of Alfama and the Tagus. São Vicente de Fora is a place of great historical, artistic and spiritual value, essential for a visit to Lisbon.

Pass by

The Feira da Ladra is the oldest and most popular market in Lisbon, known as the city’s flea market. It takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the historic neighborhood of Alfama, near the National Pantheon. Here you can find a huge variety of products: from antiques, books, furniture and vintage clothes to crafts, souvenirs and curious objects. The name “Ladra” refers to the word “ladra” in the sense of stealing, in reference to the stories of small thefts in the market, but today it is above all a vibrant space of commerce and popular culture. The fair is perfect for those who like to harvest treasures, discover unique pieces and feel the typical Lisbon atmosphere, with friendly sellers and tourists from all over the world. Visiting the Ladra Fair is like immersing yourself in the authenticity of the city, in an experience full of color, history and movement.

In the heart of Alfama, the National Pantheon, also known as Church of Santa Engracia, is one of Lisbon’s most imposing buildings. With its grand white dome, visible from various parts of the city, the monument combines history, architecture and tribute to great Portuguese figures. The construction began in the 17th century, but was only completed in the 20th century, feeding the popular expression “works of Santa Engrácia” to designate something endless. In its interior rest personalities such as Amália Rodrigues, Humberto Delgado and Eusébio. The ship is spacious, decorated with colorful marbles, and offers stunning views from the top of the dome. From the viewpoint, you can admire the Tejo River and the roofs of Alfama. A must stop for those who want to feel the weight of Portuguese history in a majestic setting. Ideal for a cultural break during the tuk tuk tour of Lisbon!

Alfama is the oldest and most authentic neighborhood of Lisbon, known for its narrow streets, steep slopes and unique atmosphere. This labyrinth of alleys preserves the traditional spirit of the city, with colorful houses, typical tiles and blooming balconies. Alfama is one of the neighborhoods where fado is felt intensely, with several houses and tascas where you can listen to this traditional music live, preserving the Lisbon culture. Although fado has its deepest roots in Mouraria, Alfama is today one of the main places to experience music and the typical atmosphere. In addition, the neighborhood offers important sights such as the Castle of São Jorge, the National Pantheon and the Miradouro das Portas do Sol, which provide stunning views of Lisbon and the Tejo River. Walking through Alfama is traveling in time, feeling the authenticity and history of Lisbon at every corner. An unforgettable place to meet the soul of the city

The space is a vibrant meeting point, surrounded by cafes, restaurants and bars, where locals and tourists gather to enjoy Lisbon animation. Near the coast is the Elevator de Santa Justa, a neogothic elevator that connects Baixa with Bairro Alto, providing easy access between these two historic areas of the city and offering panoramic views of Lisbon. Largo do Carmo combines history, culture and urban life, becoming an indispensable place for those who want to feel the essence of Lisbon.

The Church of São Roque is one of the oldest and most important churches in Lisbon, located in the Chiado neighborhood. Founded in the 16th century by the Company of Jesus, it stands out for its richly decorated interior, with tiles, golden scale and paintings of great artistic value. Its exterior is simple, reflecting the initial austerity of the Jesuits, but inside is one of the most impressive collections of sacred art in Portugal, including the Chapel of St. John the Baptist, considered one of the most expensive chapels in the world, brought piece by piece from Rome. The church is also a striking example of the Baroque and Manierist style in Portugal. In addition to its artistic value, the Church of São Roque has great historical importance, having resisted several earthquakes, including the earthquake of 1755. Visiting São Roque is an opportunity to know the cultural and religious richness of Lisbon.
